| Car-dealer-turned-state-lease-profiteer John Hedley really likes Boss Bruno, according to his mash note in the TU today.
Hedley complains: "The recent press coverage is an insult and an attack on one of the best men I've known in my life, and one of the most honest and hardworking public servants."
Well, that's nice of Hedley, considering that his projects in Troy have only been successful because Boss Bruno made sure that state agencies took up most of Hedley's space.
I do not know whether Hedley was a "client" of Boss Bruno's "consulting" business, but Hedley has given at least $6,000 to Boss Bruno's campaign committee in this century.
Then there's the Stanley building scandal, that resulted in a few felony convictions, but somehow never touched Boss Bruno, who must have set the whole thing up.
And what about the Beltrone project in Rensselaer? And the big new building on the former Sterling-Winthrop property in East Greenbush? And the airport? And the train station?
How much was kicked back for those?
One story I've heard about some member items is that, when a VFW Post, say, gets $25,000 for a new parking lot, Boss Bruno "suggested" the contractor for the job.
A contractor who was, no doubt, a friend of Boss Bruno kicking back a taste.
When a guy like Boss Bruno uses campaign contributions to do expensive home improvements, that is another form of corruption the FBI should be interested in.
So I do not wonder why the federal grand jury is taking so long -- there's so much Boss Bruno corruption there, practically in plain sight.
Boss Bruno may have done a lot for the Capital District with his unusually powerful influence on the use of public monies.
But he has also used his power to enrich himself and his cronies like Mirch, Connolly and many others.
It may take a while, but Boss Bruno is going down. |
