"For crying out loud, stop trying to make my life miserable.''

Joe "Brunogate" Bruno Does NOT Heart the Albany Times Union.

Bruno raises funds, raises voice

Sen. Joseph Bruno had his first fund-raiser for 2007 in Troy Monday night at Franklin Towers. Although he's attended several of Bruno's campaign donation events, particularly the golf outings, Bruno pal Jared Abbruzzese wasn't spotted at  this get-together.

...

On Tuesday morning he was blasting the Times Union for editorializing about his unwillingness to go along with Gov. Eliot Spitzer's call for an independent redistricting process.

"I wish they would wake up and not print garbage that relates to six years from today,'' Bruno said. "I'm not worried about six years from now.'' He said he'd prefer for the Times Union to get behind his tax cut program for small businesses instead. "For crying out loud, stop trying to make my life miserable."'

Too funny.

We need a whaaaaaaaaambulance!

Just more proof that the 2 reforms Albany needs more then anything else are

Full Public Financing of Elections

and

Non-partisan redistricting

Joe Bruno and his cronies think they are entitled to a free ride. Joe Bruno and his cronies are not accountable to the people of the state.

If we want state government that is responsible and accountable to the people of this state then we need elections that actually put their seats at risk. Lifetime appointments to the Senate and Assembly don't cut it.

Full Public Financing of Elections

Non-partisan redistricting

Reform starts there.

You know.... (0.00 / 0)
I don't buy the six years thing...

He's supposed to be passing legislation that will affect people's lives for decades to come...education funding, environmental issues, helath care...do all those issues have a five year shelf life?

Is Joe Bruno only willing to look at things that impact people's lives for five years or less?

We've got some work ahead of us.

Nope (0.00 / 0)
He's only willing to look at things that affect "a lifetime."

His lifetime. His political lifetime. Which at best (or worst depending on which side of the aisle you look at it) is about 4-6 years.

My preference would be about 4-6 months but that's up to the FBI I guess.

Uncle Joe only cares about what is good for Uncle Joe. Right now keeping Republican State Senators happy and safe from voters is what is good for Uncle Joe.

Bruno has met the enemy and it is me

What, or rather who, is the problem with the state's economy? Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno had a different answer today from what you typically hear.
"You are the problem,'' Bruno sid to me at a press conference today. "You and the (rest of the) media don't get it.''
Bruno went ballistic when I asked him where the money would come from to pay for a $1.3 billion tax cut for busineses he and other Republican senators proposed today. Less aid for schools? Cuts to health care? I suggested, trying to be helpful.
"This is not a cost, sir, this is an investment,'' he said, since the tax cuts down the road will result in more jobs, more economic activity and more tax receipts. The implication was anybody who sees a downside to tax cuts, i.e. less government revenue, is hurting the state by daring to question such a move.
Another reporter took up the cudgel: OK, but within the context of balancing a budget, don't you have to offset a loss of revenue with a reduction in spending, he asked Bruno.
"Any financial plan is a projection,'' Bruno responded, with a not-atypical non-sequitur. He said the state will finish this year with a surplus approaching $2 billion.
But of course in future years, state budget officials are forecasting multi-billion-dollar budget shortfalls, when the tax cuts Bruno is pushing will still be in effect.
Then I was going to ask him about his plans to rein in the state's $48 billion debt (higher than any state except California) but decided to save that for a slow news day.

When are they going to give up the SUpply SIde Myth? (4.00 / 1)
"This is not a cost, sir, this is an investment,'' he said, since the tax cuts down the road will result in more jobs, more economic activity and more tax receipts.

This one ponzi scheme theory has cost us Billions.

We've got some work ahead of us.
