| NY-26 Democratic candidates Jon Powers and Alice Kryzan recently released their respective campaign finance filings which paint a clearer picture of who is the front-runner to challenge Tom Reynolds.
First, the Kryzan filing. The figure that stuck out to me was the debts owed, which is featured in the chart below. If you owe $97,000 and you've only been in the race for about five months, you have some problems. That's where Kryzan sits at this point. Her contributions for the 4th quarter were pretty low too, especially considering her last quarter she raised nearly $70,000.
The Powers filing shows how the Powers campaign is gaining more and more momentum. Powers received over $139,000 in contributions and has nearly $261,000 cash on hand. He is in a strong position with that sort of money and the support he's gained from several endorsements. Also, while Kryzan has 100 percent of her contributions for the 4th quarter coming from individuals, I'd have to say that Jon's individual donors are more impressive. Powers has received 87 percent of his contributions from individuals, an impressive figure considering the amount of money he received.
Check out the chart below for a summary of the respective filings. Powers is clearly ahead, not only in regards to money, but he also has the momentum and the support from Democrats throughout the 26th district.
