"Mini" Super Tuesday Live Blog

Welcome to the "mini" Super Tuesday live blog. We'll be blogging the results from 7 p.m. (Vermont) on.

12:59 a.m.: Clinton is the projected winner in Texas, capping off a huge night for her campaign.

10:53 p.m.: MSNBC calls Ohio in favor of Clinton. I would be cautious about this considering MSNBC's Chuck Todd was on not too long ago saying that it was too close to call because a lot of the votes in Obama strongholds haven't been touched yet.

10:26 p.m.: Cuyahoga County (Cleveland area) won't be finished until 4:30 a.m. with the tabulation of votes.

10:11 p.m.: Still too close to call in Texas and Ohio for the Democrats.

9:53 p.m.: McCain speaking to his supporters on a night where he has won the Republican nomination.

9:47 p.m.: So my big question: Hillary obviously isn't going to sweep tonight. Should she stay in or should she get out?

9:22 p.m.: Clinton is projected the winner in Rhode Island.

9:19 p.m.: Huckabee drops out of the race.

9:15 p.m.: Obama is leading early on in Texas, while Clinton is leading early on in Ohio.

9:14 p.m.: McCain will head to the White House tomorrow for George W. Bush's endorsement.

9:06 p.m.: It's all locked up for John McCain. He has over 1,200 delegates now on the Republican side. McCain is the projected winner in Ohio AND Texas. McCain swept tonight's primaries.

9:02 p.m.: Too close to call on the Democratic side in Rhode Island, Texas and Ohio.

9:00 p.m. The polls are closed in Texas and Rhode Island. McCain is the projected winner in Rhode Island and the presumptive Republican nominee.

8:07 p.m.: I'll be back at 9 p.m. with the rest of the night's results. Ohio will be officially done at that time.

8:02 p.m.: At least one county (Sandusky) in Ohio still has their polls open and will be open until 9 p.m. The Ohio Secretary of State is calling on counties not to turn in their results until 9 p.m., but results still seem to be coming in anyway.

7:55 p.m.: Ohio still close to call for the Democrats.

7:38 p.m.: Here are the exit polls on the Democratic side in Ohio. The results were really mixed here. This will be a close one, at least for now.

7:32 p.m.: Ohio too close to call on the Democratic side.

7:31 p.m.: John McCain is the projected winner in Ohio.

7:11 p.m.: After Ohio closes its polls at 7:30 p.m., Rhode Island and Texas will close at 9 p.m. Remember, Texas also has a caucus today.

7:05 p.m.: The Vermont exit polls were really intriguing. Obama won almost every category given on the exit poll.

7:02 p.m.: Barack Obama projected the winner in Vermont on the Democratic side, while John McCain is declared the winner on the Republican side.

6:58 p.m.: Vermont's polls for the Democrats and Republicans will be closing at the top of the hour. Ohio's polls closing at 7:30 p.m.

The exit polls I'm seeing have Clinton up 2 points in Texas, Obama up 2 points in Ohio, and Rhode Island tied. I think, given the error in polling, that basically means it's tied in all 3 states.

Do the exit polls tonight reflect the massive amount of early voting in the last 11 days in Texas?  College students down there broke records.  I know the Obama campaign volunteers in Albany took a bus trip to Ohio...maybe organization has moved in from closer states too
I'm not sure the exit polls can be relied on too heavily this time, especially if they don't include data from the early voters.  They're always fun, though.

I wouldn't take much from the exit polls beyond confirmation that the vote will be close, they're provided just for fun

I like the DailyKos Results Threads for this type of thing:

VT:  Obama 60, Clinton 38 (86% Reporting)
OH:  Clinton 55, Obama 42 (88% Reporting)
RI:  Clinton 58, Obama 40 (98% Reporting)

TX Primaries:  76 percent reporting

Clinton 51 -- 1,223,621
Obama 48 -- 1,142,951

TX Caucuses:  5% of precincts reporting

Obama 56 %
Clinton 44 %

Must be lonely :-)  From CNN.com:

TX Primary: 92% Reporting
Clinton: 1,388,440 51%
Obama:   1,282,042 47%

TX Caucus: 34% Reporting
Obama 19,197 55%
Clinton 15,480 45%
(They still haven't called the caucuses for Clinton)

And in Ohio with 92% Reports it's 55/43 Clinton/Obama.
