Maureen O'Connell: For Reform Before She Was Against It

by: phillip anderson

Mon Feb 05, 2007 at 10:49:32 AM EST

The Daily Gotham makes a nice catch.

Maureen O'Connell, flip-flopper

Maureen O'Connell, in a letter sent to governor Spitzer on 01.16.07:

A recent Craig Johnson campaign piece quoted you as saying that you need Craig to help bring real reform to Albany. Having looked over your reform agenda, I found that I can easily support it. In fact, as a member of the Assembly, I sponsored or voted in favor of similar reforms.

Newsday quoting O'Connell, 02.04.07:

O'Connell, speaking before a crowd of several hundred cheering supporters at the American Legion hall in Williston Park, called Johnson "a sidekick" to Spitzer and criticized his support for the governor's property tax reduction plan, which she said actually would raise homeowners' taxes.

So what's it gonna be. hmmm?

Indeed. So which is it, Maureen?

did anyone else catch maureen's new ad (0.00 / 0)
yesterday? i saw it least half a dozen times. it contains the tag line,"i'm running to be your state senator, not anybody's sidekick".

oh, and it looks terrible. it looks like something thrown together in a few hours and has a very cheap video infomercial look. it's an awful spot, but she's yet to make a decent ad. the SEIU ad is the only good one they've had.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

ad is awful. (0.00 / 0)
It seems this is one of the worst run campaigns I've seen in a long time. Reminds me of Sweeney's or Kelly's.

We've got some work ahead of us.

I've been trying to find that ad. (0.00 / 0)
But of course, it's not youtubed. She looks angry and bugeyed; and as far as the wisdom of running against the guy who carried the district with 70% of the vote is concerned, I'll just leave that to the casual observer to figure out.

O'Connell channels Rove? (0.00 / 0)
Capital Confidential points to a post in Newsday where the O'Connell camp is blaming Johnson for robo-calls made during the superbowl telling republicans to vote for O'Connell.

Boy does this look like a lame attempt to imitate a Rove technique. Plant dirty tricks on yourself and then blame the opposition. Not very effective it appears: "a few Republicans say they received robo-calls Sunday night urging them to vote for Maureen O'Connell." And they quote someone who will now definately vote for O'Connell because they got a call to support O'Connell, which they think probably didn't come from O'Connell's campaign. Thatoughtawork.

Can't wait for the her 1:30 p.m. press conference to respond to "illegal telemarketing calls".

iw as just reading about that (0.00 / 0)
and had the very same reaction. it looks lame, desperate and thoroughly concocted.

TODAY is day one. It always is.
