I read about this base rubbish somewhere else... (4.00 / 1)

but I was under the impression that it was a mailer to CON voters.  It is a sure sign of desperation that they are sending this mailer to the Jewish community in Great Neck.  With just four and a half hours to go, it's time to twist the knife!

I wish I could be up there today for the turnout effort (and for hot pastrami sandwiches from Kensington's).

Lipris, Send my love to everyone at the Great Neck HQ: Patrick, Gina, Hilary, Caisy (if she's there), and everyone else.

Oh, and Lipris, will you be liveblogging the results as they come in from the press room at the party?  You know, tell us not just the numbers but where they are coming from?  That would be sweet.

I'm a Long Island native.. (4.00 / 1)

albeit from the South Shore, a little more blue-collar than most of the 7th..

but even where I'm from, gay marriage isn't really an issue that gets people riled up. Abortion, maybe, but Long Islanders have seen plenty of Will and Grace, Queer Eye, have gay neighbors, etc. The 7th is mostly an affluent and well-educated area.

My guess is that this will backfire, much like the rest of Maureen's tripe.

Based on what I hear, she's trying to pander to social conservatism in the Orthodox Jewish community (4.00 / 1)

Running against a pro-Israel Democrat, that's really the only thing the GOP has to offer to them, and furthermore, I'm not sure if Orthodox Jews are much more uniformly socially conservative than Catholics.  In any case, they often vote en-bloc based on community endorsements (e.g. as in Kiryas Joel and Lakewood NJ), so this mailer won't swing many votes.
