Half Hour To Go

by: phillip anderson

Tue Feb 06, 2007 at 20:27:20 PM EST

The mood here at Great Neck HQ is cautiously optimistic. There was word that Great Neck wasn't turning out. The office here emptied out completely with everyone hitting the thoroughly frigid streets.  About half came back and the rest are doing visibility around town.

I am worried about this crap, but We'll just have to see. Should be getting the first results in about an hour.

If she's around, could you tell Gina to tell her contact with the Ellen Karcher campaign to get in touch with me, and that I will be the contact man for Princeton University College Democrats for 2007 campaigns? (do this after 9pm of course)

There's also a young woman from Albany with the WFP up there who got hot dogs without buns from Kensingtons, I can't remember the name without seeing the face.  If you know who I'm talking about give her a hello.

Thanks for all the coverage.

Hot dogs w/o buns? (0.00 / 0)

BTW, I'm sOoOooooo impatient, I am here and keeping the fires burning over at The Daily Gotham's Special Election Open Thread. So y'all better open an extra tab on those browsers and go visit.

I might be able to figure it out (0.00 / 0)
was it Nicki?  if you describe her I might be able to figure it out.  all the WFP organizers have been in the district the past 2 weeks working on the race, and Nicki's the WFP Capital District Organizer

reminds me I need to get people's pictures for the WFP site

Wish it weren't so cold out there!
New to the website, I followed Suozzi's Fix Albany campaign for awhile, and was heartened when it had some early success, I thought it might actually lead to something. Trying to reform the NY legislature is like trying to storm a castle on a top of a mountain. It will take more than Spitzer. The voters actually have to get involved, that will be the challenge, cynicism is very deep when it comes to the corruption of the state political system. Problem is it just reflects the reality on the ground. If the Senate changes, the members of the new majority need to demand institutional changes up front, as a condition of their vote for the next majority leader. If Malcolm Smith can't make unequivocal pledges, then they'll have to insist on someone who will. It means more power for them, the rank-and-file senators, and less power to the leadership.

Well my parents voted... (0.00 / 0)
Apparently my parents invited a campaigner in for hot coco and a cookie too. (no joke apparently, ask the canvassers, haha)

Great Neck turnout doesn't stream in at any given time and to the surprise of myself at the end of the day when the polls closed there somehow were votes in the booth.

Good luck Great Neck and I hope for the best Baskin-Robins HQ!

btw, if you take enough pictures (0.00 / 0)
I'm pretty sure I can pick out some great neckers from the crowd, haha.

Especially the few Great Neck Southerners who skipped school to campaign... hehe

Cautiously optimistic? Not exactly the term I was hoping for considering that is code for oh boy we are really in for the long haul. Well what would you expect I suppose.

Hello from California (4.00 / 1)
people power did it for Jerry McNerney (CA-11) and it can do it for NY. Just want you to know that lots of folks are paying attention to this race. Not only the results from tonight, but the response of the campaign to the dirty tricks. Never give up...
