Congratulations all you hard working folks! (4.00 / 3)
Great great news.

:) :) :)

Don't mean to be a downer but.... (0.00 / 0)
Mondello will certainly be going to court.
Johnson won but the reps don't care.

I do like the sound of SENATOR JOHNSON!

Congrats everyone! (4.00 / 1)
ALL RIGHT!

I write at Rochester Turning

Amazing (4.00 / 3)
Thanks for the updates and wonderful news!  This campaign should be a great model to duplicate the results across the state.

We Must Insist on the investigation (4.00 / 1)
of the robo calls. The trail will lead back to O'Connell.
If they woj or lost, they would have dropped the complaint.
We shouldn't let them.

woo hoo! (4.00 / 2)
and not to gloat or anything, but heh: http://nycr.blogspot...

Hope to see all NYC'ers at The Tank on Sunday at 11 am to celebrate, thanks to Eating Liberally! (check http://www.eatinglib... for details).

And Lipris-- we have a date with our Congresswoman's folks on Weds!!

Cheers,

C.

argh, I'm gonna miss that (4.00 / 2)
but I look forward to seeing you all another time.  This has been a fantastic new exposure to NYS politics!

[ Parent ]
nice meeting you the other night (4.00 / 2)
hopefully we'll see you 'round these parts often.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

[ Parent ]
Woohoo! (4.00 / 3)
Sorry, Joe Bruno. Buh-bye.

woot! (4.00 / 3)
good job all around. That is one more for the Dems. OK who wants to join our party?

Reality has a well known liberal Bias-Stephen Colbert

Thanks for taking back my hometown guys! (4.00 / 3)
Thank you for getting rid of Balboni and his replacement.

Thank you bloggers, campaigners and Craig himself!

Will O'Connell Concede? (0.00 / 0)
or will she demand a recanvassing and count of absentee votes?

As Borat would say... (4.00 / 3)
GREAT SUCCESS!!!!!

interesting tidbit: (4.00 / 6)
this is the first time i can remember being told by folks with a campaign that was down that there EDs weren't in yet and they weren't bullshitting me.

that's pretty cool.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

lol, thats the power of lots of poll 'watchers' (4.00 / 1)
hehe.

When you can spread them everywhere to all the EDs, thats what happens... :D

BTW, are you having the party at the Great Neck Inn by any chance or somewhere else?

leonardo's (0.00 / 0)
ever heard of it?

TODAY is day one. It always is.

[ Parent ]
OO you guys are going expensive. (0.00 / 0)
Ah, a bigger and better location then usual... its a decent location along Northern Blvd.

Although there have been unconfirmed reports that its owned by the mob... but you didn't hear that from me, lol.

a big place was needed (0.00 / 0)
to fit all the people

this was a *high priority* race

[ Parent ]
Saw it happen once before (4.00 / 5)
WV-02 Dem primary last year - Mike Callaghan's precincts were the last to be called. Trailing all night, he wound up crushing at the very end.

So this would be the second time I've seen something like that. AWESOME!

[ Parent ]
Hey Lipris, (0.00 / 0)
Are you there with an operative named Matt Albert?  If you know him, tell him Rich says hi.

[ Parent ]
Fabulous Job!!!!! (4.00 / 3)
Fabulous. Congrats all around!!!!!

Hopefully the first of many victories for the people of NY (4.00 / 2)
Now if only Silver would adhere to the recommendations for the new comptroller. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Still, this is an evening for celebration!

Woo Hoo!!! Congrads to All!!! (4.00 / 2)
Great work, Well worth the contribution. Just Fantastic. Turning Nassau Blue and the NY Senate bluer too!
Cheers!

"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion." Dalai Lama

Congratulations (4.00 / 8)
Senator Craig Johnson!

But I..... (4.00 / 2)
heard that Craig Johnson is weak on terror! The Homeland of sd7 will it be safe? (sarcasm).

Congrats Senator-elect!

OMG! Y'all have to check this one out (4.00 / 3)
http://dailygotham.c...

Michael strikes again

No one can say. . . (4.00 / 3)
it's too late for change, or
we can't get the funding, or
it's too damned cold outside, or
anything.

Democracy is on the move, one big clunky step at a time.  Finally.
Thanks and congratulations to everyone!!! This is so big!!!

No time to rest now (4.00 / 1)
There's gonna be a vacancy in the Nassau Legislature, which is now tied 9-9.  Suozzi needs the Nassau Legislature as much as Spitzer need the State Senate.  Who's running?  Let's roll!

Suozzi will call a special election (4.00 / 2)
And Newsday's Spincycle reprted a few days ago that the Dems have picked "Wayne Wink of Roslyn, a Town of North Hempstead trustee" to run for the legislature.
He'll win.
Not many big name reps in Johnsons old (yup, its old now) district.

[ Parent ]
Sweet! (4.00 / 1)
Thanks for the info!

[ Parent ]
Turnout: 49,381 (4.00 / 2)
I said earlier that 20,000 was what was projected; but that was actually a number that was predicted to win.  I also heard 20%; it ended up being 24%, so the turnout was some 20-25% better than expected.  The nastiness of the race might well have surpressed turnout.

not to mention (0.00 / 0)
the 20 degree weather!

[ Parent ]
You know what this means... (4.00 / 8)

...the steamroller wins.

lol, a king or a steamroller? (0.00 / 0)
haha

johnson wins ! (2.67 / 6)
Many thanks to Lipris for his efforts in making the Albany Project an effective site.  And special thanks to Brian Keeler, who didn't waste 5 minutes lamenting his loss in the NY Senate race; he got right back in the game and is doing more than his share to change the politics of NY state.

elections (4.00 / 1)
That sleazy attempt by the Republican Elections Commissioner to intimidate voters in the Craig Johnson contest is part of a larger pattern.  Somebody needs to tally this up, and write an article about it-- with all the electoral shenanigans in this country in recent years, the GOP is the party that is always trying to suppress votes.  I cannot think of a single instance in which the Republicans were making an effort to be more inclusive.  In every case they are using procedural gimmicks to reduce the turnout.  This says a lot about where they are coming from....

Looks like Rovian tactics (4.00 / 2)
took another hit.

Great work TAP. I fell asleep and missed the drama but very happy to see the win and the great coverage!

What a long, strange trip it's been.

Congrats! (4.00 / 2)
Good work everybody!  I'm a little late getting to the results, I was at a town board meeting till around midnight last night and completely forgot to check out the results.  All right, now who are our aisle-jumpers??
