He is passionate, I will give him that. We'll see how well he did with his petition drive.

despite the fact that my browser has issues navigating his website (hope that's not a universal issue), i ran into him recently at a progressive event and he seems like a great guy to have in the increasingly-corrupt body known as the new york city council It is difficult to get the news from poems Yet men die miserably every day for lack of what is found there.
Politics64, I hope you have better things to do than lie in blog comments. Those were not "family" supporters of Jimmy; they are Democrats in the district who support his campaign. And we are volunteers, not workers. We have not been paid one cent to help Jimmy, we do it because we believe in him, and we've contributed money. If the Foley campaign wants to spend their campaign money paying petition gatherers, that's their perogative.
It's a shame that the DSCC would decide to push a candidate into this race that does not support marriage equality. (This is not only unprincipled, it is a waste of DSCC money that could be spent on other races.)
Tom Hroncich recently wrote this editorial, which I've excerpted here:
As members of the GLBT community, I believe there are times when we have to make a conscience decision to stand up and be heard, even if that means personal sacrifice. We, the GLBT community on Long Island, are faced with one of those times today. The situation involves the race for the New York State Senate in the 3rd District (Islip/Brookhaven). The incumbent, Republican Caesar Trunzo, is again being challenged for his seat. Mr. Trunzo is seen as vulnerable and the seat is crucial for the Democrats to wrestle control of the Senate from the Republicans. It is commonly thought that a Democratic-controlled Senate would lead to passage of same-sex marriage legislation in Albany. The problem is that there is a Democratic primary for the seat. The candidates are Jimmy Dahroug and Brian Foley. Mr. Dahroug publicly supports full marriage equality for same-sex couples and he has been endorsed by the Stonewall Democrats of Suffolk County (formerly known as the Gay Democrats of Suffolk County). *** Unfortunately, for years Mr. Foley has refused to fill out questionnaires sent by gay organizations that would indicate his positions on marriage. What's worse is that Mr. Foley has quietly indicated having reservations about gay men and lesbians being allowed to marry based on his religious beliefs. We have all heard this before. *** The possibility of a Democratic State Senate candidate from Long Island who opposes civil marriage rights for gay men and lesbians is utterly unacceptable. Should Mr. Foley prevail in the primary, it will send a direct message to Democratic leaders locally and in Albany that our GLBT community is weak and ALL of our issues are disposable. We cannot allow that to happen. *** We must act now. To get involved in Jimmy Dahroug's campaign visit www.jimmyforsenate.com and click on the "Join The Campaign" button.
