SD-3: Foley Drops Petition Challenge, Dahroug Drops Out

by: phillip anderson

Fri Aug 08, 2008 at 11:36:40 AM EDT

It appears that there will not be a Democratic primary in the 3rd SD after all. Last night, lawyers for Democratic SD-3 hopeful Brian Foley dropped their challenge to their primary opponent, Jimmy Darhoug's nominating petitions. Newsday got a statement from Dahroug's lawyer that included the following:

He confirmed that Dahroug has scheduled a news conference next Wednesday, but could not disclose what the candidate planned to discuss.

Well, it looks like we won't have to wait until next week to find out what Jimmy Dahroug wanted to discuss. This morning, Dahroug has asked that his name be removed from the September 9th primary ballot. I'm told that a statement from the Foley campaign is forthcoming shortly. I assume we may have something from the Dahroug camp as well later today.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a nominee. Now, let's go beat Caesar Trunzo (R-FL)

I have waited thirty six years for this opportunity! (0.00 / 0)
Now, we have a clean and clear shot at Trunzo.  The efforts by the Foley campaign this past week have been canvassing with a November message.  Now we see the reason for that.  Foley is not the most progressive of our nominees but he is well within our party values and a perfect fit for this pusple SD3! A Caesar Salad anyone?

Woops, pusple? I meant purple SD3 (0.00 / 0)

Sounds like a wager to me noel! (0.00 / 0)
But how about doing the community a favor first and donate a couple of bucks to the send Phillip Anderson to Convention thread.  I will match your donation there dollar for dollar as I know you get a kick from this site anyway!

Nah, he's not interested in doing anything... (0.00 / 0)
... that will actually help a Democrat.

Wow (0.00 / 0)
A magnanimous, happy ending to this situation?  It's a good time to be a Democrat.

and we can all unite around all the races as soon as we get SD 61 together (0.00 / 0)
I decided to back Ianello today.

I agree with Dan (0.00 / 0)
Michele is clearly the candidate of choice in SD-61. She has the best ideas (see her 40 Ideas in 40 Days), a great record, and a perfect district for an Italian Woman to run in.

Glad to see the support. My Michele Iannello sign is on my lawn too.

She's already earning your endorsement, 64 (0.00 / 0)
After her interview with Jerri Kaiser in Batavia today, Michelle canvassed outlying parts of the City of Batavia with Lorie Longhany.  She figured that she'd do the parts that were spread out and needed driving in her own car because local Dems had walked door-to-door for her on Saturday. She makes it clear that she knows the value of direct voter contact.  She's real, real easy to work for when you know how hard she works.

Don't judge other people by your own limitations.

I actually posted about her as a top tier candidate at the time the incumbent (0.00 / 0)
announced she was not seeking re-election.  I saw her CL site and that her district overlaped the SD61 and felt she was one of 3 or 4 Democrats who could win this.  She is working very hard as a retail candidate and that is always a great way to run!  Mesi badly disappointed me with first announcing he had the Conservative and IP lines to go with the WFP and then not getting either. Michelle seems the real deal here and I just hope Ranzenhofer losses that IP primary because it gets a bit sticky if he has three lines.

Tomorrow at 10 (0.00 / 0)
There's a canvass in Leroy tomorrow starting at 10 am for Michelle and Jon Powers.

Don't judge other people by your own limitations.
