NY-21: Brooks Endorsed By Maloney; Releases Fourth Mailer

Tracey Brooks came out with a couple of announcements at the end of the week, one being that she received the endorsement of Rep. Carolyn Maloney on Friday and that she was sending out her fourth mailer, with this mailer focusing on health care.

Here is more about the endorsement:

"I'm endorsing Tracey Brooks for Congress in New York's 21st district because she knows it's time to end the war in Iraq and invest that money here at home," said Congresswoman Maloney, who represent parts of Manhattan and Queens and is a national leader with extensive accomplishments on security, financial services, the economy, and women's issues.

"Tracey brings hands-on community experience to Congress and will be a strong voice for families on guaranteeing health care for all, protecting a woman's right to choose, and getting our economy back on track," continued Congresswoman Maloney.

As a renowned champion for domestic and international women's issues, Maloney helped pass legislation to target sex trafficking and provide annual mammograms for women on Medicare. Time Magazine has called Maloney a 'tenacious, resilient legislator.' Maloney has also recently authored a book on the need for pay equity.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to have the endorsement and support of Congresswoman Maloney, a strong voice for all New Yorkers and someone whose leadership and advocacy I've always admired," Brooks said. "Our campaign continues to gain momentum as I speak directly to the voters on issues important to them like ending the war in Iraq, providing affordable health care for all, standing up for a woman's right to choose, and addressing skyrocketing gas prices."

The Brooks campaign will be sending out its fourth mailer, this time focusing on health care.

I would still like to know... (0.00 / 0)
Tracey is making a big issue out of the benefits that our members of Congress receive.  My question of Tracey is will she accept the health care provided to members of Congress if she is elected?  If not, will she only accept such benefits once all Americans have the same level of health care as members of Congress?  If she does accept the benefits, wouldn't that leave us taxpayers stuck with the bill?

So Robert, (0.00 / 0)
are you now "out" as a Brooks supporter, or do you plan to put contribution links to all the candidates?

I don't support any candidate in this race... (4.00 / 1)
I just happen to get a lot of press releases and updates sent from the Brooks campaign. I just got a Steck e-mail come across my inbox which I will be posting shortly and when I do post that, an ActBlue page will be linked to in that post.

I believe we have four strong candidates in this race. Whoever wins will represent the 21st very well in the House. I'm not going to engage or tolerate Obama-Clinton tactics here. Treating people within our party like they are Republicans is counterproductive.

The marginal candidates in this race have dropped out.  Everybody left running in the Democratic primary is a serious and reasonable candidate.  Give info and let the people decide.  I'm visiting my family here in the district, and there are lawn signs out and about-- a variety of them.  This is a contest.  Let's not give Robert a hard time if he posts when he gets info from the campaigns... and, you have to admit, Brooks is doing a good job of getting message out.

What message? (0.00 / 0)
That she is not a man?

Or, that (despite having been a republican and lobbyist a majority of her life) she wants to take on republicans, and lobbyists?

If lawn signs are part of the litmus test - I would not suggest that all of the candidates are still in it. I have been walking in districts all over the 21st and I have seen a total of 12 or 15 Brooks lawn signs.

This is, of course, indicative of the nature of her campaign. She has no real grassroots support so she has to pay "volunteers" to knock on doors for her. Lacking this sort of base support - she relies on gimmicks on the airwaves to introduce herself as some sort of change agent.

What sort of change did she believe in when she was carrying Republican petitions a few years ago? How much does she want to "take down" the lobbying firm that is still paying her? Probably not that much...
