Tracey Brooks is in Denver today for a WomenCount event. WomenCount has endorsed Brooks and Brooks is in Denver today to speak alongside Sen. Let me get this straight... (0.00 / 0)
Tracey has gone to Denver to join Senator Clinton? Word on the street is that Clinton is avoiding Upstate New York because she and her staff don't want Tracey around...While I wonder about the accuracy of Clinton avoiding her, I'm more concerned about what Tracey is really doing out in Denver. Her boyfriend is taking a petite larceny charge for stealing signs and she's out in Denver?

Seems more like she is running away from negative press than trying to do good for the voters back here...

And speaking of voters back here, maybe Tracey should listen to Chris Van Hollen, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee:

"Our overall advice to candidates has been to stay home," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The purpose, he told Associated Press writers and editors, is "not to separate themselves from the Democratic Party, but because that's where their constituents are. You don't find your constituents in Denver, and these are important days" to campaign before the Nov. 4 election.

Who is running her campaign? First she takes lobbyist money, according to her own words at Sunday's debate, and now she's avoiding the district she's supposed to represent. Where is your mind at Tracey?

Geez. (0.00 / 0)
Sounds like you think you should be running her campaign.

The trip makes sense to me.  Emily's list has given Brooks a lot of support-- it's reasonable she would want to go thank them, and maybe ask for more support. Brooks used to work for Clinton-- Clinton is wisely not endorsing, but, this is a big night for her, and maybe Brooks wants to see it.  I live upstate, and I don't see Hillary avoiding us at all-- doing her usual thing at the State Fair, etc.

Seems pretty straightforward to me: thank and woo campaign supporters from elsewhere, watch your ex-boss in a moment of glory.  Given his dumb, over-emotional actions, I can understand why spending time with that guy she's been dating might not be high on her list of priorities. And, as Robert points out, she can also bask in a bit of reflected glory as her ex-boss and current Senator makes an historic speech on the anniversary of US women's suffrage.

Believe it or not (0.00 / 0)
I come to Brooks defense on this.  Although I will say that "who is running her campaign" has decided that I will no longer recieve press-releases for information for me to post every week because I diaried the sign-stealing story and broke the news that the thief was her boyfriend, which Tracey has yet to deny.  If she did deny it, I didn't recieve the statement...oh well.

Still, Brooks did work for Senator Clinton, and I can see her wanting to be there.  And every Democrat should be able to recognize the historic nature of Hillary's campaign when we do what good Democrats do and put primary battle behind us as we move towards a general election.  And she's probably hoping that the local media pick up the fact that a local candidate was present at the DNC, despite Rep. Van Hollen's advice, which would be very beneficial to the campaign after all that negative press from the sign-stealing fiasco.  Which, by the way, both candidates have said is over and done with and should be forgotten in favor of remembering the issues in the final two weeks of the campaign.

So...good for Tracey!  I can't wait to see Senator Clinton's speech tonight either.

I couldn't disagree more... (0.00 / 0)
The voters of the 21st CD can't afford to go to Denver, and their voices aren't being heard by Tracey Brooks.

She claims that she will 'stand up' for us, yet it appears to me she is just standing up for herself and the Party elite out in Denver.

While she is enjoying wine and cheese with Sheldon Silver, the rest of the campaigns are back here hard at work earning the votes to win this election.

I'm proud to be supporting Paul Tonko for Congress, I am sure that he was invited to join the Party in Denver - and instead he is here listening to the stories of families across the region.
