Big day for the Democrats in NY-21. I will have more on this later and I'm sure Soundpolitic will have more from the ground later in the day.

I'll certainly have my thoughts on the primary in NY-21 coming up, and there is surprising news in the SD-46 campaign as well...
On Brooks, there is one thing that was missed: as I was watching the news on primary day, I found that the machine that Tracey Brooks was to vote on didn't work when she pulled the lever and she had to fill out an emergency ballot. Kind of a harbinger considering the final results. Also, that morning she had gotten a court order to impound all the voting machines in anticipation of a close election. Again, considering the results, this was not necessary as Paul Tonko's victory was a resounding one.
All in all, it was the probably the most competitive primary going on in New York State, overshadowed perhaps only by the race to replace State Senator Joe Bruno and the first ever primary challenged faced by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver. That puts the name Paul Tonko right back at the top, and while no predictions were made about who would win this primary, you can bet your bottom dollar that Tonko will sail forward with an even larger victory over Republican Jim Buhrmaster in November. I call over 60% :-)
