How's Kryzan look for November?
Hooker Chemical represents her biggest stumbling block but her explanation of it is good.
Don't count out the University crowds in love with Obama to make the difference.
As a DKos regular, I was very aware of Powers, and when I met him at Netroots Nation I was impressed.
But an Amherst couple, good friends of ours, told me they were supporting and working for Kryzan. So I read up on her and saw that Powers-or-Kryzan seemed a win-win, so long as Davis lost.
A comment below suggests the Kryzan lead is a surprise. Was there polling to suggest that Davis would have a % this low?
The actual number of certified signatures should be released by next Monday. But, working on a maximum figure of 25 signatures per petition sheet, Powers submitted sheets that could have a maximum signature total of 13,175. Kryzan turned in sheets that could have a maximum total of 10,625. The Jack Davis campaign submitted sheets potentially worth, 8250.
This was a dismal show of strength for what has been a one year continual campaign (Mr. Powers does not work) that has been almost continually touted in the media and across New York State blogs from Albany to NYC as a steamroller grassroots campaign organization consisting of uber-motivated campaign workers thickly spread across all seven counties of the 26th Congressional District. I would have thought the goal would have been to "WOW" everyone with superior signature totals in order to produce a real show of strength.
Now it appears that this primary has the makings of a very close September election. Ms. Kryzan should be happy thus far. Mr. Davis appears to either not have taken this seriously, or, he truly believes that he will win with little effort.
Whatever the case, primaries are good. The voters will choose this one, not the connected people.
As for Mr. Powers and his supporters, little bit of humility is in order. You have a race on your hands.
Well played.
