The Funniest Thing You Will Read All Day

The Wizards of Wall St have spoken. Their verdict? That an Obama presidency would be disastrous for the country.

Chief Executive magazine's most recent polling of 751 CEOs shows that GOP presidential candidate John McCain is the preferred choice for CEOs.  According to the poll, which is featured on the cover of Chief Executive's most recent issue, by a four-to-one margin, CEOs support Senator John McCain over Senator Barack Obama.  Moreover, 74 percent of the executives say they fear that an Obama presidency would be disastrous for the country.

...

"I'm not terribly excited about McCain being president, but I'm sure that Obama, if elected, will have a negative impact on business and the economy," said one CEO voicing his lack of enthusiasm for either candidate, but particularly Obama.

In expressing their rejection of Senator Obama, some CEOs who responded to the survey went as far as to say that "some of his programs would bankrupt the country within three years, if implemented."  In fact, the poll highlights that Obama's tax policies, which scored the lowest grade in the poll, are particularly unpopular among CEOs.

"Overall, many CEOs are concerned about the future of the U.S. economy and its ability to compete in the global market, but they look to John McCain and hope that this self-described political maverick may yet shake up established thinking and not give into to the tired policies of the past," concluded Kopko.

Utterly shameless.

Damn hilarious, Phillip (0.00 / 0)
How do you unearth these nuggets?

Now, that contrasts nicely with most economists, who, when polled, overwhelmingly favor Obama.

But, being rich means you are smart, right? So, we should vote like they say, or they will bankrupt the country because they are pissed? But, wait a minute... didn't those smart rich guys just screw up bigtime?  Are they so smart?

Dunno. Ask a bona fide economics Nobel laureate like Joe Stiglitz on that. He thinks that the economists who have acted as handmaidens to the rich and politically powerful share some of the blame, too.

Disastrous? (0.00 / 0)
The only thing Obama would be disastrous for is those golden parachutes.

I think it also illustrates a divide between the top and the rank-and-file on Wall Street (0.00 / 0)
Obama has raised much more total money and in # of donors from wall street, and this is borne out my personal anecdotal evidence- I work in the financial district, albiet not in banking, but everybody I know save for 1 or 2 exceptions is very into Obama, if they have a preference.  The CEO's tend to be older and they are old-school GOPers- but the next generation of Wall Street is overwhelmingly Democratic.

Far Out! What a ringing endorsement! (0.00 / 0)
Obama ought to package this into a national TV Ad. It'll win him every state!
