The Buffalo News today endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) for President:
The only thing we have to fear, a great president once said, is fear itself.
Barack Obama is not afraid.
They had vast praise for Obama and a scathing critique of McCain, whom they have been quite supportive of in the past:
We once considered McCain, when he was an independent thinker focused on issues, as a very serious contender for American leadership; his selection of the unqualified Palin for a post a heartbeat away from the presidency rules that out.
They also ranked Obama ahead of McCain of 6 of 7 issues
The News also released their future endorsement schedule (districts endorsed in 2006):
Congress (26-29): 10/26
Senate (57-62): 10/27
Assembly (138-150): 10/28
Local races: 10/29
The News endorsed Kerry/Edwards in 2004, Gore/Lieberman in 2000, and Clinton/Gore in 1996 and 1992.
The News endorsed Democrats in 3 of 4 races and made no endorsement in the 4th in 2006. The News endorsed all Republicans for State Senate in 2006. The News endorsed a mix in the Assembly in 2006. |
