there is no such thing as a safe republican in the nation these days.

Conservatism is a massive failure.

Only the most rabid far right wing lunatics and the very delusional or deluded remain in the camp that thinks everything is hunky dory and conservatism is the answer to all our problems.

The majority of republicans are good, decent, sane, reasonable, and responsible people and they see as clearly as we do what a failure their party under conservative leadership has been.

We saw it in 2006 and we'll see even more of it this year.

The republican party we'll see in the elections of 2010 will be a very different party. Whether they'll have cleaned house by then or be in the middle of the kind of mess a thorough barn mucking of that sort becomes remains to be seen. But sane Americans will be voting Democratic this year and sane Republicans will either be switching parties or cleaning their own house over the next couple years.

We can beat McHugh. We can beat King. One of the saddest things this year is that King is getting lost in the Shuffle, because he's intolerable and this is probably our best chance ever to beat him.
