Everybody must get Stoned, Roger that

by: Exile on Ericsson St.

Wed Dec 03, 2008 at 13:33:45 PM EST

TPMtv has an interview with Phillip's favorite Republican operative.

Roger also showed up in the excellent Lee Atwater documentary "The Boogeyman".  There, he claims that he told Lee Atwater that the Willie Horton ad was too nasty and that Atwater shouldn't run it.  When Roger Stone tells you you've gotten too dirty....the only comparison I can make is the story of how Keith Richards fired Brian Jones for doing too much heroin.

Expect flood of Stone troll comments in 3...2...1...

traffic is traffic, my friend (4.00 / 1)

wow (0.00 / 0)
you nailed that one, buddy.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

[ Parent ]
Love the Nixon Painting (0.00 / 0)
That's some quality work.

Also, I wonder why he hates the Bushes.

my guess is... (4.00 / 1)
That the Bushes are just too right-wing for him.  I don't think of any of the big NYS Republican operatives -- no matter how nasty -- are really that crazy about the extreme right-wing of their party.  Minarik's infatuation with a Bloomberg candidacy was by all accounts sincere.

And let's not forget, Roger's a swinger.  Maybe if Plato's Retreat had been named after one of the Apostles instead of a bisexual Greek atheist, he might get along better with the theocrats.

[ Parent ]
Even Bush I? (0.00 / 0)
I get it about GWB, but GHWB?  He wasn't as conservative.

I'll bet there's also a personal slight or fight from way back.

[ Parent ]
What exactly is right wing about Bush? (0.00 / 0)
If you actually read what Roger writes, or heard him on Dicker this morning, you would know that he never has supported any Bush ever and especially dislikes Bush's big spending big government policies.

[ Parent ]
Here in NY (0.00 / 0)
Stone has worked for Golisano and Trump.

And made millions doing so.

Winning (0.00 / 0)
I do believe you mean "and made millions doing so BY WINNING", right?  Gee, I wonder what Gov. Spitzer thinks of our boy Stone?  I'll be he never had heard the Stone name, because the fingerprints on that knife in Spitzer's gut belong to one Roger Stone.  NY is better for it, so who cares how much Stone gets paid.

[ Parent ]
Roger Stone TPM video (0.00 / 0)
I guess Exile can't deal with the fact that Stone is a winner, over and over again.  Look, both Stone and Atwater had it together, but if they disagreed on one ad 20 years ago, who cares?  Stone was not only right then, he was right about that sleaze-ball Spitzer, and Stone sicced the FBI on that hypocrite's ass, and now Spitzer's gone.  Thanks, Roger!

how did I criticize him? (0.00 / 0)
I compared him to Keith Richards.  That's high praise in some circles.

[ Parent ]
I didn't write you criticized him... (0.00 / 0)
What you did, Exile, was fail to recognize the master for what he is: the destroyer of Spitzer.  Say it with me now, o.k.?  Stone slew Spitzer; Stone slew Spitzer; Stone slew Spitzer.

[ Parent ]
Bye Bye Spitzer (0.00 / 0)
You are soooo right.  If it weren't for Stone, we'd still be calling him "Governor Spitzer", and now we just call him spit.

[ Parent ]
hi there, sockpuppet (4.00 / 1)
do you often carry on conversations with yourself online? i mean, if you and "john" up there are posting from the same IP addy, why not save us all the trouble and just speak amongst yourselves seeing that you'd pretty much have to be sharing a room.

or, maybe you are just a dumbass when it comes to the interwebs, just like your daddy stone.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

[ Parent ]
I don't understand (0.00 / 0)
why you have your panties in such a wad over Roger Stone.  Spitzer was a BAD governor Phil and many Democrats will tell you that.  So Roger took him down.  What's the problem?  You need to take a deep hard look at the Democrats in Albany.

[ Parent ]
i haven't written about stone in ages (4.00 / 1)
and your comment doesn't address my comment at all.

and can we get one thing perfectly clear here? spitzer took down spitzer. period. he couldn't keep it in his fucking pants and thought that he was sooooo smart that he could get away with spending tens of thousands of dollars on whores and no one would notice.

stone, though he's been trying to take credit since the story broke, had fuck all to with it.

deal with it.

and since when have we not gone after corrupt dems in albany?

TODAY is day one. It always is.

[ Parent ]
I was addressing you (0.00 / 0)
and your "daddy dumbass" comment.  And I didn't address "corrupt" Dems; I addressed all Democrats.  You are correct that Eliot defeated himself and what Roger's exact role was, I really don't care.  Deal with it.

[ Parent ]
Hey Chiste... (0.00 / 0)
Before you reply, pull your hand out of your pants and close that full screen image of Roger Stone you have open on your computer. Please.

What you need to realize Chiste is that we do not discriminate at The Albany Project. We will go after the Republicans and Democrats that deserve a tongue lashing. We have done it before and we will do it again... and again... and again.

But what I see from your end is plenty of hypocrisy. After all, when Phillip wrote about Joe Robach's scandal, you wrote a comment with the subject line "Who cares" and text "Seriously." I guess taking down Spitzer was good, but going after an immoral Republican is bad.

But that's just like Republicans, Chiste. It's okay for them to be corrupt, but if the Democrats do anything, they are sinners, "naughty boys" and corrupt.

My advice Chiste? Take a hike. And hopefully by the time you have read this comment, you haven't squirted one all over your keyboard over Roger and his Nixon tribute.

[ Parent ]
How did Roger know Eliot had sex with his socks on? (0.00 / 0)
??????

[ Parent ]
how do you know that Robach never slept with his aides? (0.00 / 0)
I apologize for cross-examining you, as you put it, but one question deserves another.

[ Parent ]
Hey TAP, dig into THIS (0.00 / 1)
I guess I must be a troll because I read everything that pops up about this guy on my Google Alerts. I often comment. I thought that's why you bloggers allow comments. My bad.

I've read Stone's comments distancing himself from the Bush cabal. I am not sure I buy it, but it seems true. It sure wouldn't be the first time I've read of him pissing into the W tent from outside. It seems the White House made an enemy of him at some point after Florida 2000.

Was it his dislike for Karl Rove (mutual, I suspect)? Was it all the politics the Bushies kept tucking into our pants? Was it the fire sale of the US government Bush appointees held for connected lobbyists? Was it an adventuresome war woefully executed? As a conservative, all that stuff pisses me off. But this seems PERSONAL to me - doesn't it?

Here's what I want to know, TAP: what happened between Stone and the Bush gang after the recount that made him so anti-W? If you figure THAT out, you've got some news.

However, saying Stone isn't conservative and the Bush clan is - that is completely without credibility. ALL of the Bush family is from the Rockefeller wing of the GOP, that is an historical fact. Stone has 40 years of conservative credentials,  far more conservative than any of the Bushies, family or staff. You need to get that straight before you are credible on this topic.

As a conservative, I'd far prefer Stone's political agenda for the last 8 years compared to what they put us all through from the W White House. As a Republican, they shamed me.

Again, sorry to comment. I just can't resist sometimes. Next time, should I simply read another blog?

I said right-wing, not conservative (0.00 / 0)
And let me add that it warms my heart to see all you anti-Bush Republicans out here today.  Let me ask you this, though: did you start disliking Bush when his approval rating was still above 50%?  If so, a tip of my hat.

[ Parent ]
EoE St (0.00 / 0)
I stopped supporting George W. Bush when my nephew was killed in Iraq. It jolted me completely and made me think - "Why?"

I couldn't find an answer worth his life, or those of his comrades in arms.

That was Christmas Day, 2004.

[ Parent ]
I just checked... (0.00 / 0)
Bush was at around 57% in December 2004.

[ Parent ]
I'm sorry to hear about your nephew (0.00 / 0)
Whatever our political differences, I respect his service.

And -- I respect that you turned on Bush when he was still popular.

[ Parent ]
Why do I post, then remember another point? (0.00 / 0)
ADD I guess; my apologies. Our whole darn family is ADD, it seems. I did mean to ask EoE St how he makes the distinction between "right-wing" and "conservative" labels. Thanks.

[ Parent ]
to me (0.00 / 0)
"Right-wing" means authoritarian, in the style of, say, Franco or Mussolini.  "Conservative" means something more nuanced that I'm hard-pressed to define.  But I definitely know people who call themselves "conservatives" whom I agree with on some (though not all!) things.

To me, George Bush is right-wing.  George Will (though I agree with him on very few things) is conservative.

[ Parent ]
Right Wing, Left Wing, Tomato, Tomatoe (0.00 / 0)
I get your personal contrast of the terms. So hold these two up in the mirror and you get "Left-wing" and "Liberal" - right? So, when you write about the Left-wing, do you mean perhaps socialism in the style of, say, Stalin or Mao?

Or does the distinction between the two on the left line up differently? Like maybe unions are Left-wing, not Liberal?

I get your gist though. I don't think Stone is all that Right-wing on abortion, drug laws, privacy and moral issues. He is definitely conservative. But he sure was comfy with Reagan, whose Right-wing views on abortion, drug laws and moral issues are rather similar to those of GWB.

Whatever, I'm blabbering. I still think it is something personal between Stone and the White House. Thanks for indulging an old guy. Best wishes.

[ Parent ]
I'm not totally sure (0.00 / 0)
About the left-wing versus liberal distinction.  I'm fine with being described as either.  But I think it's a bit different for conservatives right now because of Bush.  I certainly know of people who still call themselves conservatives (say, John Cole of Balloon Juice or Andrew Sullivan, as well as a few less well-known people I know personally) who have opposed Bush for a long time and don't like to be lumped in with Bush supporters.  They seem to call Bush right-wing. meaning authoritarian, so I'm mostly taking my cues from them here.

I think when there's a really terrible leader associated with a political philosophy, it makes people want to split hairs about the words used to describe that philosophy.  And, from my perspective, as long as those people are honest about how awful that leaders is, I'm happy to let them split those hairs.

[ Parent ]
Roger was great on Dicker this a.m. (0.00 / 1)
Thrashed McArdle and declared the demise of the Senate Republicans, championed Rockefeller Reform, and beat up on Bush.  Hmmm.  Sounds like my kind of guy.

the albany project (0.00 / 1)
is pathetic. the fact you guys sit around on top of your soapbox and troll your own comment board speaks to how juvenile you are.

stone was a winner before the albany project. stone is a winner now. stone will still be around when the albany project is gone and forgotten.

Actually... (4.00 / 2)
We sit around on top of our "Soapblox."

Roger Stone: Proud C.U.N.T. (2.00 / 2)
I think its time to throw this "CREEP" back in "The Vault" before finds more illegitimate children of Pat Buchanan's.

Is he going to organize an angry mob of "Minnesotans" from Buffalo and New York City to shut down the recount there too?

Or maybe he can call George HW Bush and leave threatening messages on his voicemail.

(Roger Stone has been fired for all of the above, and wass eventually banned from the 2004 Republican convention after Rove - Rove! - tired of his dirty tricks - so who turned on who?)

Any luck finding the Whitey tape you misplaced, Roger?

that should be (0.00 / 0)
has been fired for variations on all of the above.

angry mob of Republicans (4.00 / 3)

Is he going to organize an angry mob of "Minnesotans" from Buffalo and New York City to shut down the recount there too?

I'm not sure.  Does Brooks Brothers make parkas?

[ Parent ]
Hey Chiste... (0.00 / 0)
Let's review your comment:

This is how you speak to people you 21 one year old bitch?

I'm 22, but nice try.

And I will speak to trash you however I want. How's that sound?

Do you even know Joe Robach? Ever had a conversation with him?

Can't say I have, nor do I wish to talk to such an immoral and unethical "leader." Just like I didn't like Eliot Spitzer's shenanigans, I won't deal with the likes of Joe Robach either.

I don't care for your advice "robert".

I never offered any. Unless you count me saying that before you read this comment, you should pull your hand out of your pants. Obviously that struck a nerve.

You're young and arrogant and in love with yourself.

Well we can agree on something: I am young. But we already acknowledged that fact.

As for being arrogant and "in love with [myself]", I am not. I have a high level of confidence, but I am not in love with myself and I am certainly not arrogant.

My advice?  Don't ever meet me because I will kick the fuck out of you.  Got it asshole?

So let me get this straight: If I come meet you, you will inflict bodily harm. So what happens if you come meet me?

Lets have a throw down (0.00 / 0)
Me, you, Philip, and Exile versus Chiste, shovel, loyalty, and frankinstonybrook. I choose throwing stars.

I'm really not in the mood to deal... (0.00 / 0)
With such idiocy from these Stone-loving fiends. A week ago today I was remembering my father at a funeral. Today was a real rough day. If someone has a bone to pick with me, fine. I'll bring the ice packs and gauze.

[ Parent ]
You are offensive Robert (0.00 / 0)
To insinuate that I'm jacking off to photos of Roger Stone?  Good one, dude.  Good one.

[ Parent ]
Then quit... (0.00 / 0)
Coming here and drooling over him. Seriously, take a look at your history of comments here. Your very first comment here was about Roger Stone's Nixon tattoo, which you labeled as "HOT."

If you want to come here and contribute something else, fine. But don't come here to do Roger Stone's bidding for him. Roger Stone is an idiot. He talks a big game, acts like he's someone special (you might say he is in love with himself) and he really isn't. Stone is soft. No pun intended.

[ Parent ]
i'm not ready (0.00 / 0)
To lump the others in with chiste, just yet.

just isn't the goddamn day. my belligerent halfwit tolerance threshold is awfully fucking low today.

LOL

If you don't want your comments taken down (0.00 / 0)
don't make them so vulgar that not 1, not 2, but 3 people troll rate them. That's the qualification for a comment to become hidden - only visible to long term users.

[ Parent ]
Vulgar? (0.00 / 0)
Robert Harding just said I was masturbating to photos of Roger Stone?  do you people only see one side of the universe???

[ Parent ]
you could do worse (4.00 / 4)
He could have said it was a picture of John Bolten.  That would be offensive.

[ Parent ]
lol (0.00 / 0)
Maybe Robert could make an actual argument himself, instead of his puerile insinuation that I'm masturbating to photos of Roger Stone? I've spent more time battling Republicans and conservatives than Robert Harding has been alive.

You obviously have some huge hard on for Roger Stone; all I dared ask was why.  And I got a snot-filled reply.  As usual.  De rigeur at TAP.  Testy, defensive, easily offended, superior.  And my point?  That you should take a hard look at the Democrats.  That's it; all I had to say to unleash the wave of TAP hostility.
