Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Please, please God, please let Peter King run for the Senate!

The Peter King who predicted the GOP would make gains in this year's State Senate elections?

The Peter King who compared Vito Fossella to JFK, LBJ, and Thomas Jefferson?

The Peter King who said Baghdad was just like Manhattan?

Please, please Rep. King- please run for the Senate... I couldn't think of a better Christmas present.

you beat me to it (4.00 / 2)
Please, please God, please let Peter King run for the Senate!

My thoughts exactly.

I know not everyone agrees, but this is a good example of why  Republicans are unlikely to take the Senate seat in 2010.  Look how weak their bench is.  I don't think there's a single Democratic Congressman in the State who would lose to Peter King in a statewide election.

They have nobody (4.00 / 1)
Maybe Rangel would hypothetically lose to King, but at least he's stupid enough to think he could win statewide

[ Parent ]
I don't think Peter King is a bad choice for them (4.00 / 1)
I don't think he can win, but he's the only Republican currently in office with a statewide profile.

However, if I were them I'd run Nick Pirro (Former Onondaga County Executive), Chris Collins (Erie County Executive), Maggie Brooks (Monroe County Executive), or Joanne Mahoney (Current Onondaga County Executive).

The problems for them are the first is happily retired and the last three have all only been in office for 23 months.

Maggie's been in longer than that (4.00 / 1)
She's been there since 2003.

She's not that well-liked locally, though.  County government's a mess here.

[ Parent ]
I think Jeanine Pirro would be their best shot (4.00 / 1)
but she would still lose

[ Parent ]
there would be something truly amusing (4.00 / 3)
About Jeanine Pirro running against Fran Drescher.  (Not that I favor Drescher as our nominee.)

[ Parent ]
Pirro? You think? (4.00 / 1)
I mean I know it's getting harder and harder for the Republicans to find candidates who haven't committed a federal felony--check out my new Congressman for evidence--but SHEEESH.

[ Parent ]
today might not be.. (4.00 / 1)
The best day for us to gloat about all the Republicans who have committed felonies.

[ Parent ]
Maybe so, but you can count our prominent corrupt officials on your hands. (4.00 / 4)
The Republicans' list requires a math professor and a staff of recordkeepers.

[ Parent ]
Holy Plastic Surgery Batman! (4.00 / 1)
She doesn't even look like a human being.

[ Parent ]
Tom Libous (4.00 / 1)
Not that I like him, mind you, but he is an excellent campaigner and politician, and has been a leader in the State Senate for a long time, which gives him a bit of credibility.  And, he is a great fundraiser, too.  Without any of the kind of baggage that King or Pirro (Jeanine) has.  And, he is enough of a party booster to do it even though he would probably lose.

[ Parent ]
This is another sign (4.00 / 1)
that the GOP bench for statewide campaigns is really weak.

I hope King goes for it.

He will lose, and we'll easily pick that Congressional seat.

the same Peter King (4.00 / 3)
who claimed the Iroquois were in cahoots with Islamic terrorism?

http://twentyfour01.com/nyco/2...

Now that's an "astute grasp" of Upstate issues...
