Reform, Thy Name Is Bruno

by: phillip anderson

The funniest thing I have read in quite some time:

The Greatest Reformer in This State

Now I've been saying for at least a year or two that old man Bruno has lost touch with reality.  Not surprising.  He's an old man.  It happens.  I think we can consider the case closed on this matter.

The senator called himself "the greatest reformer in this state - probably since Teddy Roosevelt," adding: "I need people to acknowledge that, instead of all these liberal writers talking about tax cuts as spending."

He needs people to acknowledge he is the greatest reformer in this state since Teddy Roosevelt.  Now, unless you want to consider the way he has made bribing politicians into an actual side business by calling it consulting as "reform", than I think we can just all agree that the old man is batty.  It will be interesting to see how far down he can drag the already dead and dying NY republicans before they pull the plug.  Put some beer on ice and pop some corn, its gonna be fun.

Nice.

DIA adds this in an update: (4.00 / 1)
When you are the greatest reformer in the state its important to make bold moves.  Sometimes they will look so bold as to be almost hypocrytical.  Like when you "reform" freedom of information laws by blocking the citizen's ability to get to the information and then saying "We're just doing what we think is in the best interest of the people"  Genius is often misunderstood.  However, I'm sure by the end of Bruno's prison sentence we will probably have a better grasp of just how ingenius he was at reform.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

"Joe Bruno," they'll describe him, "Businessman, horse enthusiast, and great reformer."

We'll be building statues to him, no doubt.

What are they smoking? Find out at alien & sedition.

please don't ever fly through the albany international airport.  There is a bronze bust aka statue of Joe Bruno in the airport.  It always brings me down upon returning from any trip.

btw, nice pics as evidence!

Imagine coming back from a vacation, finally getting off the plane, eagerly looking forward to get home and see your neighbors, weed your garden....and seeing... that.  It will make a lifelong blogger out of you.  And it negates any of the stress relieving effects of your vacation.

Don't drive in from the North, either.... (0.00 / 0)
...or you will see the prominent sign on Rt. 787 for Bruno Stadium (where the Joe-baseball dolls pictured above were distributed to the adoring fans).  Usually, a stadium gets named after a person or company that donated their own money to help build it... but, yeah, you guessed it-- Joe "facilitated" us spending our money on this "economic development" boondoggle in his district. A bit pricier than mere statues, I'd say. But "Taxpayer Stadium" does not have the same panache.

And, I'm not sure the point is to gross out the vacationers.  I think it is a message to incoming citizens and lobbyists who might be visiting the Capitol District on policy business.  Message: this town belongs to me.

Saw that sign while driving to Albany to pick up a friend from the bus station there...that woke me up >_<

Make no small plans.
