Nadler interested in HIllary's Senate seat too

Not Nadler, Ackerman or my own Rep. Steve Israel.  The appt. if it follows the old three "I's" of NY politics will be either Italian (Cuomo) or Irish (Kennedy).  I really do not believe these old concepts of dividing power by ethnicity, race, gender etc but rather allow the electorate to end up creating their own representative mix at the polling place.  Howeverm appts. are different, as pressure builds to balance off by these and also regional issues.  My LI preference would be not to appt. a person who will run in 2010 but a caretaker.  Louise Skaughter would be perfect as she is of an age now where she would not likely seek a six year term in 2010, her vacant seat is highly Democratic defendable and as a woman and upstater she balances off the statewide representation very nicely.  All said, my guess is that Cuomo or Suozzi will be appointed.  If Cuomo than Suozzi may be pushed for the AG appointment.  Happy Holidays to Everyone!

Though I like them both and would be happy with either.

I don't have much of an opinion on the matter but have one interesting side story to this Nadler piece.  Domenic Recchia, the one time candidate for NY-13 has held onto his congressional campaign funds he amassed, nearly $162k.  Recchia's council seat falls within Nadler's district and he was supported by Rep Nadler when he was testing the waters for his run in NY-13.  I am not jumping to any conclusions yet but find the possible connection interesting.
