2010: NRCC 'Targets' McMahon, Gillibrand, Arcuri, Maffei and Massa, Gives Up On Hall

by: phillip anderson

File this under "O RLY?" It seems the sad-sack dreamers at the NRCC have already started to circulating their, ahem, rather ambitious "target" list for 2010. That list includes five New Yorkers, including all three freshmen.

It makes some sense to me that they'd think they might have a shot at taking back NY-29. It's a pretty red district. Massa is smart and tireless. They'll make a run at him, but they ain't gonna out-hustle the guy.

To take back NY-13, they'd have to, ya know, actually find a candidate, something that turned into quite a soap opera last summer for them. And I don't think they are going to have a realistic shot at Maffei, even as a frosh.

They damn near picked off Arcuri in NY-24 last year, but I don't think that they'll catch him napping again, not to mention D-trip.

Gillibrand has proven to be one hell of a fundraiser and has worked her tail off to seal the deal with her district. She isn't going to be beaten anytime soon. I'm also pretty sure that they won't be lucky enough to find another self funding gazillionaire moron to take her on. Running a credible challenge to Gillibrand is going to cost money. Will they have it? I have my doubts. Even if they do have the moolah, I find it hard to believe they'd dump it into NY-20.

What's interesting to me is who didn't make their list. It seems that the NRCC won't be taking another shot at John Hall in NY-19.

Sorry, Mr. Lalor.

Oh, and I have a feeling that much of their effort in New York just might be sunk into defending NY-3.

Just sayin'.

Well, that's... stupid. (0.00 / 0)
Gillibrand converted a narrow 2006 win into a 2008 pummeling. I think their only chance at that district is if Gillibrand gets the senate vacancy.

I wonder what their thinking on NY-26 is.

Damn! (4.00 / 1)
Stole my line!

This "target list" is a real humor piece. They couldn't take NY-20 last year when they had Sandy Treadwell spend over $6 million of his own money! They think they have a shot in hell against Kirsten Gillibrand? Not only did she give him a big league style ass whipping - she did it while being out spent by him! Poor ol' Kirsten only raised about $5 million against the check he wrote himself for $6+.

They also targeted John Hall in NY-19 and then struck out on what... was it 5 strikes and they were out? And against Maffei.

If I was running the NRCC I think I'd be looking good and hard at democratic seats in Dixie and Dixie only. I sure as hell wouldn't be looking at New York!

They are likely to lose their rookie Lee and their remaining wacko King. We'll even give McHugh a run for his money up in them thar hills up north this time around.

Stick to Dixie fellas. You ain't got no one left that likes ya'll up here now ya hear.

Peace,

Andrew

McHugh (0.00 / 0)
I found it incredibly interesting that McHugh sent out a franked leaflet extolling his "work" last week.  He's scared and vulnerable --we need to get the netroots raising money for his Democratic opponent.

do you really think (0.00 / 0)
mchugh is vulnerable? if so, do tell.

i mean that.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

McHugh's not vulnerable (0.00 / 0)
That district has parts that are strongly trending blue, but McHugh's got the seat as long as he wants it.  When he retires, however, I expect it to be quite a close race.

I personally (0.00 / 0)
target Arcuri. He is a scumbag! I will do anything to get Arcuri out of congress. He has put my liberties on the back burner for his own goals.

Washington needs one less lawyer. Arcuri has got to go!!

They could win NY-13 (0.00 / 0)
with Andrew Lanza, Donovan, or James Oddo.
