NY-Gov: Paterson Raises Nearly $3.6 Million

If Governor David Paterson can keep up this fundraising pace, he will make a very formidable opponent for anyone - Democrat or Republican - who wishes to challenge him in 2010.

Governor Paterson's campaign finance filing shows that Paterson raised nearly $3.6 million during the last six months and has nearly $4.9 million cash on hand.

Here is a breakdown of his filing:

CONTRIBUTIONS: $3,598,653.17
MISC. RECEIPTS: $85,190.74
TOTAL RECEIPTS: $3,683,843.91
EXPENSES: $1,812,039.69
CASH ON HAND: $4,888,229.66

These numbers are impressive. Raising $3.6 million in six months is no easy task, so if Paterson can keep raising money at that rate, he is going to be very difficult to primary in 2010.

could be what saves him (0.00 / 0)
not sure how i feel about that, to be perfectly honest.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

Solid, but not impressive (0.00 / 0)
Especially since he was supposed to raise $4 million at a single event, and um, he didn't.

Will be interesting to see what AMC raises.  They started the period at roughly the same cash on hand, and the burn rate will be interesting.

Also interesting to see the return of Kristian Stiles.

Cuomo has more on hand.

He raised less than the Governor (just over $3 million), but but has $5.58 million on hand because he spent only $461,000.

Governor needs to trim the fat of his operation, too many consultants and floral arrangements for an off-year.

Cuomo's Fundraising (0.00 / 0)
I got an invite for a January Cuomo fundraiser, and I thought it was terrible on several levels. First, we just got through a darn election. Second, those of us with something to give just got through the year-end charitable giving season. Haven't these people ever heard of donor fatigue?

But most of all, potential donors have no idea what office he's running for. Governor? NY AG again? Senate? It's awfully presumptuous to assume should give to him regardless of the office sought, since the competition will depend on his choice.

If we had public campaign financing, we could do away with this mess.
