NY-20: The Air War Is On: Murphy On The Air, Tedisco Rips Off Obama

by: phillip anderson

Wed Feb 11, 2009 at 16:14:38 PM EST

The air war in the NY-20 special election, now slated for March 31,  is officially on. Democrat Scott Murphy is first on actual television with his new ad "Sunday Dinner."

It's an introductory bio had that I think mostly hits the mark. A fine start for sure.

Nest up, Jim Tedisco launches his effort with a web ad of almost 5 minutes. In it, he basically rips off the Obama campaign of last year. You've got to love a standard Republican hack like Tedisco using the slogan, "Yes We Can, Now We Will."

On the web: Scott Murphy for Congress.

I don't know about you (4.00 / 3)
But I fucking loved it.

Personal connection Jobs jobs jobs education keep kids here jobs I'M LIKE YOU kids Family kids I care I'M LIKE YOU. Will it cut through the clutter? I don't know, but I think it might. I know that if it does WOMEN will connect to him, and that is critical.

Anyone know who made this?

In the end, as everyone knows, as long as Murphy can qualify himself, this will be won on the ground.

Let us know everyone if you see the ad on TV. Post what Media Market you're in too.

I think it's time for the Thermometer, Phillip.

yep. (4.00 / 1)
i think you're right.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

Great introductory ad (4.00 / 1)
I think it's a great, positive introduction to Murphy.  It hits on the issue of upstate jobs and kids leaving the state, which everyone can relate to.  Great start.

It's a great intro ad (0.00 / 0)
and I hope to see it soon on the TV.

With this race, it'll be Christmas in February and March for local TV stations.

Re: Tedisco ripping off Obama, he may like Obama's slogans, but if he wants to go to Washington to obstruct his policies and programs, as would seem to be in his political genes, then he's giving Murphy a major attack opportunity.

All BS (0.00 / 0)
Both videos are feel-good, typical politician nonsense and meaningless slogans.

A real insult to the intelligence.

There is a candidate who actually says something when his mouth opens.

You might want to include the fact that you are a member of Sundwall's team.

James Ostrowski - Campaign Legal Counsel, Adviser and blogger.

We don't mind you advocating for your candidate. But you might want to disclose the fact that you are advocating for someone who you are working for.

Are you sure you have daylight hours to be wasting on left-wing blogs?

Robert, please, the way you toss about allegations with no basis, you should not be teaching me ethics.

The link I PROVIDED states that I am on his team and I'm one of his bloggers.

Of course, no one knows I'm a libertarian.  I've tried to keep that a big secret.

Sorry Jim... (0.00 / 0)
I didn't accuse you of anything. I told you that if you are going to push a candidate, you might want to say that you have an association (if one exists) with that candidate. I don't know what they call that in the legal world, but in blogging we call that a "disclaimer." You know, a short little statement saying the following: "Disclaimer: I am on his team and I'm one of his bloggers."

That link doesn't state anything. That link takes us to the website. If I click on "The Team" section, that is where we can find your bio.

the site policy is pretty clear (0.00 / 0)
and pretty much universal in blogland:

feel free to say whatever you like, but if you are on staff or on the payroll of a campaign or candidate, disclose. ideally, you would do so in your sig line.

most folks do something along the lines of "I proudly work for "insert candidate here."

TODAY is day one. It always is.
