Bigots Honor Diaz

Awfully nice friends you've got there, Senator Diaz.

New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms named Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr. its statesman of the year today during Legislative Day 2009 "To Every Generation". The event drew hundreds of Christians, some donning signs indicating their opposition to legislation that would legalize same-sex marriages.
Diaz has been with the group on the issue. He is a Democrat from the Bronx and a reverend.
Several speakers at the event included lawyer David Gibbs III, who represented the parents of Theresa "Terri" Schiavo, and Maggie Gallagher, president of the National Organization for Marriage and the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy.

Lovely. I'm sure your constituents are so proud.

A pet peeve (0.00 / 0)

To "James M. Odato," who wrote the blog copied above -- there is no such thing as "a reverend." He is a minister, and the standard formal greeting is "Reverend Diaz." The word "reverend" is an adjective, not a noun.

This is something I suppose wingnuts might not understand, which could explain Mr. Odato's post.

I must have missed the memo announcing the "golden rule" of Christianity has been replaced by hate and intolerance. Between Diaz and his loony bunch hating on the gays, Pope "no condoms" Benedict, and Catholics lobbying the State Senate to protect pedophiles, there is hardly ANY room left for "do unto others...".
Jesus wept.

How does he get away with calling himself a Democrat?! Does anyone know if he faced a primary opponent during his last election? We need to find someone to oppose him and get him out of office. It can't be all that hard.
