NY-20: Murphy's Lead Now 264

by: phillip anderson

Fri Apr 17, 2009 at 11:22:39 AM EDT

Scott Murphy's lead continues to widen despite Jim Tedisco's rather bizarre efforts to have himself declared the winner of a race that he is losing. New numbers from the BoE (pdf) show Murphy's lead has grown to 264 votes.

Given that the Murphy lead is widening, I wonder if the Tedisco camp will petition to have Jimmy Disco declared Senator.

BREAKING NEWS IN NY-20!!! (4.00 / 4)
I have filed a petition in Rensselaer County Court to have my dog Sheba declared the winner of the NY-20 special election. I wanted you to be the first to know.

If you have any questions... take it up with Sheba...

BREAKING! ALSO! I have asked Superman... (4.00 / 2)
... to fly around the world against its orbit at top speed to make time go backward and turn back the clock to March 30th...

By the way (4.00 / 1)
I had a black lab named Sheba growing up.

I had a black cat named Sheba when I was a child.

But... But... But... (4.00 / 2)
But the court should declare Dim Tedisco the winner! Because he asked it to!

Tedisco's Legal Maneuver (0.00 / 0)
Most likely this recent court filing is further confirmation that the Republicans are batshit crazy and don't share the same reality zone with the rest of us.  But this might be one of those legal mechanisms that you employ to preserve standing and facilitate future court actions. There are some apparently ridiculous legal maneuvers that on their face don't make any sense-- but they can be part of laying the groundwork for extended litigation.

This doesn't make any fucking sense (0.00 / 0)
how the hell could he argue he should be declared the winner?

I can see some logical argument if he were ahead before the challenges would but him behind, like Coleman before January, but he's behind?

Murphy has a better legal argument to be declared the winner.

Technicality (4.00 / 1)
I'm here at the DRC, and I just spoke to some folks who should know what they're talking about, but I don't have permission to say who they are.  Anyway, according to them, this filing is the same one from election day, just amended on some sort of technicality.

273 with 100% counted from all 10 counties! (4.00 / 1)
Only the 1200 challenged ballots left for Monday and the vast majority were Tedisco challenges. No way this number gets overturned with any action on the remaining ballots. It is over.

On the next Maron v Seder I want Sam to come on as (4.00 / 1)
Congressman Jim Tedisco being interviewed by Maron on his victory in NY 20!  This will be the best skit since Garafolo coming on as Senator Katherine Harris!

Sam Seder has a house in the 20th CD. (0.00 / 0)
Nice guy. I see him around Hudson and nearby towns from time to time. I wonder if he voted absentee, and whether he got challenged?

Congrats on Kos frontpage (0.00 / 0)
My wife and I are real Seder fans. Wish he were on over the air or TV!
