To everyone at The Albany Project

by: Congressman Scott Murphy

(Ladies and Gentlemen, Congressman Scott Murphy. - promoted by phillip anderson)

This afternoon I was sworn in as the newest member of the House of Representatives, representing New York's 20th Congressional District. As one of my first steps as a Congressman, I wanted to stop by this community and extend my personal thanks for all of the support my campaign received.

The stakes in this race were high, and all of us as New Yorkers recognize what happened here. Our state and our country have rejected our recent culture of exclusion, and have instead chosen a new, more progressive path. New Yorkers voted overwhelmingly for President Obama, and this special election is another indicator (among many) that we will continue working toward what is best for our state and our country.

This election was so important because it re-affirmed the fact that our state is in sync with this new direction. It took a lot of people to make it happen, and I wanted to thank everyone at The Albany Project for being a part of the victory.

Congressman Scott Murphy :: To everyone at The Albany Project
I'm honored beyond words that the people of my district have chosen me as their representative, and I will work as smart and hard as I know how to keep this country on the right path and to bring jobs and opportunity back to my district.

As you can imagine, it's been a roller-coaster ride over the last few weeks, and I'm now focused on getting to work in Washington.

I'm incredibly fortunate to have such great colleagues and supporters in Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and I'm looking forward to continuing working with them to move this country in a new, progressive direction.

We won a great victory together, but now the real work begins. I pledge to all of you that I'll be active on The Albany Project while I'm working to represent my neighbors, and to keep you updated on the latest from Washington DC.

Thank you all once again. I'm looking forward to a long and rewarding conversation with you.

Scott

Congratulations, Congressman Murphy! (4.00 / 8)
Hey there and good job!

I watched you get sworn in on the floor of the House on c-span and I thought you gave a fantastic, heartfelt, and very honest "thank you" to the district, Sen. Gillibrand, Gov. Paterson, and the House leadership, not necessarily in that order.

I look forward to voting for you again and again.

Congratulations again, Congressman.

Congratulations Congressman Murphy. (4.00 / 4)
We all thank you for stepping up and taking on this important job. It was a pleasure to work on your behalf. On all of our behalf. You have some big shoes to fill but I have been very impressed with how you handled yourself and hit the ground running in this campaign so I have great confidence in your ability. I look forward to seeing the results of your tenure as Representative of the 20th Congressional District.

Peace,

Andrew

Congratulations, Congressman (4.00 / 4)
And thanks for stopping by. I hope that we'll see you around this place many times in the years to come.

Many of us worked our tails off to get you to the well of the House today and we've got very high hopes. I have a very good feeling that all that effort will pay off with a Congressman we can all be proud of.

Again, congratulations.

Now go get to work! You're now on the clock, as they say.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

Congrats, Congressman (4.00 / 3)
What an exciting day for you, your family, and the people of the 20th.

Enjoy it.

And let us know when you will be doing Congress at Your Corners.

Congratulations and thank YOU, Congressman! (4.00 / 5)
Now goodluck and godspeed on helping President Obama undo the damage of the last 8 years!

Congratulations (4.00 / 5)
Your election victory shows that it is indeed very possible for a Democrat to win in a district that was designed to elect Republicans.  Here in the 26th Congressional District Republicans outnumber the Democrats by a wide margin.  But if we can excite the "blanks" we can do it!  Thanks, Congressman, for giving us an example of what can be done!

Congratulations (4.00 / 4)
And thanks for posting here on your first day as a Congressman!

Congrats Scott (4.00 / 4)
It was a pleasure to meet you in January & then to work with your Dutchess Co. campaign.  You have large shoes to fill but, in my humble opinion, you are fully up to the task.  I just hope you don't plan on sleeping much in the near future.

Good luck,
Tom Mansfield

Congressmen Murphy, I've already congratulated you (4.00 / 2)
in your diary at Kos, but, please, let me congratulate you again for a job very well done.

Thank you Congressman Murphy for recognizing the netroots! (4.00 / 2)
