As Gov. Baldacci of Maine signed the marriage equality bill into law today, his office issued the following statement:
"In the past, I opposed gay marriage while supporting the idea of civil unions. I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law, and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage.''
Now if we can only get a few of our state senators' views to evolve the way Gov. Baldacci's has, we could move forward. |
