And should be forced out if he won't. And he should be locked up until every last New Yorker forgets his name.

But even Crazy Jim Traficant (who by the way is a free man again, living temporarily in Rochester of all places) wasn't expelled from Congress until AFTER his conviction.

I doubt that Monserrate can win against a competent opposition candidate in the next election.  Hopefully he will simply decide not to run if there is one.

I certainly expect him to stay in the Senate as long as he can get away with it, and I would even expect him to run again if he isn't pushed out.  Even if he's in the midst of his trial.

I think there was only one Congressman who represented his district while having an outstanding warrant in that district (therefore visiting it only on Sundays).... you can look him up.  But he was popular.

Jail time - yes! If Plaxico Burgess can get 2 years (4.00 / 1)

for carrying a loaded gun, Monserrate should get at least the same time for attacking his girlfried.

He's lucky there were no surveillance cameras in his appartment, else people would be witnessing the assault as well.
