13 years ago, Dems had just a 17-14 edge

The Republicans have lost at least one incumbent in EVERY election since.

Every single one.

27-2. 25 seats. I'm looking, but I think it is the largest majority for any party in a state since reconstruction.

since the Whigs (Yes, the Whigs) had a 32-1-1 margin over the Dems and the Free Soil party from 1849 to 1851.

Pennsylvania had a 36-0 R to D delegation in 1925-27 and again from 1929-31. The Dems elected 12 in 1932 and never looked back.

So this is the largest majority for any party in one state since before the Roosevelt presidency.

I would assume you mean big states (0.00 / 0)

since currently Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Alaska, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming and New Mexico all have House delegations that are entirely one party. (Most of them having just one or two House members though)

Could anyone have come up with a worse strategy for retaining a seat that Republicans had held forever?  

What have we learned?  

Palin's endorsement may be a pure kiss of death.  Maybe we should all go out and buy her book to encourage more of the same!

It sure helps to have a candidate who actually lives in the district.

Republican Talking Point (choose one depending on result):
(a)  this is an utter repudiation of the Obama agenda
(b)  don't look here, nothing to see here, look over there in NJ in VA

When they talk about the evils of "downstate democrats", Republicans might need to acknowledge that Democrats are everywhere in our state.  

Feel free to run Conservatives against Republicans any time you want.
