Good article.

"I have been working (with Schneiderman) to take back the Senate from the Republicans," she said. "We finally celebrated last November a win that took 30 years to get, for this guy who is my senator, a man who represents the poorest community in the state of New York to side with the most conservative, wealthiest people in Upstate New York?"

My GF used to work for Schneiderman (4.00 / 3)

and she says Lilliam is a hard-working, sincere public servant. She's the real deal. We should actively support her candidacy.

The article states it clearly is happening: (4.00 / 1)

It's no secret Democratic leaders have been pushing Pérez to run for office.

And:

Pérez has been fielding calls from various groups including the Working Families Party, which has asked her to take on Espada.

I don't know much about her, but as she's chief of staff for Schneiderman, it's probably a safe bet she's an upgrade from Espada.
