NY-SEN: This isn't fear. This is glee.

by: Adama D. Brown

I just wanted to clear something up: some people seem to be interpreting the flood of invective coming at Harold Ford out of the NY blogosphere, and particularly from supporters of Senator Gillibrand, as being evidence that Ford's possibly entry into the race worries us.

It's not. It's because the entire prospect of Ford running makes us feel like Dick Cheney in a nursing home: it's a target-rich environment. Ford is out of step with New York Democrats in so many ways that it's almost comical to think that anyone would raise this trial balloon.

The glee continues (4.00 / 1)
Susan Molinari isn't running, probably in part because she didn't want to get Scozzafava'd.

Unfortunately, Peter King isn't running either.  It would have been a lot of fun to see him knocked down and switch his House seat from red to blue, but it ain't gonna happen.

Draft Chris Lee. Get him off my hands. (4.00 / 1)
Seriously, do the Republicans have anyone better left?

Greg Ball (4.00 / 1)
The tea partiers love him, and since he's not running against John Hall anymore, this will give him something to do with all the signs he's had printed up.

Draft them both, have a primary. (4.00 / 1)
Spread the fun around!

That would be exactly the right way to handle Ford. (4.00 / 1)
As a joke.

But I've seen little of that so far, esp on the blogs where it appears that apoplectic is more the tone.

I think there's something else as well. (4.00 / 2)
For me, it's kind of angering to see people, like Bloomberg, who were mad about Gillibrand because she was "too conservative," supporting someone who's FAR more conservative than she ever was.

I try to keep my own tone adjusted to mockery (0.00 / 0)
because ridicule and derision are the appropriate response to this.

I will admit, there is a tiny voice in my head that does not trust the electorate to make even the most obvious common sense choices.

And, though it may seem like overkill at times, i'm glad the response has been swift and loud. It's a little insulting that anyone would even think he's an acceptable NY Democrat.

The thought that our state would pick him, with his record, to represent NY in arguably the most powerful elected offices we select? Ludicrous.
