Ravitch is next in line, then Malcolm Smith (0.00 / 0)

Ravitch's appointment was upheld by the Court of Appeals.
Despite the insistence of some bloggers here that it was unconstitutional, it was the obvious remedy to a grave constitutional flaw.

Smith is still Pres Pro Tem of the Senate and next in line, IIRC.

but whether it's a good thing is something else again. I'd just as soon he stay in office, and leave when the new governor comes in.

In some ways, we didn't need this further mess with him. The budget process is going to get even more nightmarish.

I really wish the entire state legislature would announce that they won't be standing for re-election this year. I know, not a chance, but it's a nice fantasy.
