| The video, entitled "Greg Ball A Person" (because we need to be reminded, I guess) was on YouTube until just about an hour ago (4 pm ET). While it was abruptly removed this afternoon, Ball still links to it from his Facebook page (for now, anyway). In the video, Ball is seen yelling at members of the Assembly, calling them "dysfunctional."
However, according to State Assembly rules, this is a big no-no.
In the Rules of the Assembly, Rule X - Televising Assembly Session, it clearly states:
No portion of the televised proceedings (either live or taped) authorized pursuant to this section may be utilized for: campaign or political purposes or to promote or oppose a ballot issue or the candidacy of any person for any elective office; or any paid commercial advertisements.
Sources in Albany told me this afternoon that Ball's possible Democratic opponent in the State Senate race, Westchester County Legislator Michael Kaplowitz, discovered the video about the same time that I did and has notified the appropriate people in the Assembly.
I'm not sure what kind of trouble Ball can be in for breaking the Assembly rules. |
