Interesting choice.  It does speak to the fragmentation of Upstate politics, though, that most Democratic voters from even the next cities over most likely are as unfamiliar with Duffy as downstate political observers might be.

So, is he Horatio to Cuomo's Hamlet?  :-)

His predecessor, Mayor Johnson (0.00 / 0)

was very well-known-- he did a lot of traveling around speaking.  Duffy is not like that, although I have a sense of him, and I am several counties away.
