SD-6: What would You Ask Dave Mejias?

I'm happy to announce that I've been in touch with people at the State Senate Dems and we will be doing a series of interviews with State Senate challengers to GOP-held seats. Roughly every week or so I'll be interviewing a different Dem challenger and posting it here on TAP.

The first one will be Dave Mejias, the former Nassau Legislator who gave the moron Peter King a great challenge in 2006 for his congressional seat. Mejias is also a well-regarded lawyer and was the first latino elected to office in Nassau County.

This year, he is challenging Senator Kemp Hannon, who only held on to his seat in 2008 by the skin of his teeth against Kristen M. McElroy, 52-48. Mejias is a smart, energetic reformer who certainly has a good chance of pulling off the victory.

So, I am opening this thread for all of you to suggest questions for me to ask Mejias on Monday. What would YOU ask Dave Mejias?

Tenant Legislation (4.00 / 1)

How convenient -- I saw Mr. Mejias at an event last night, but did not get a chance to go over and talk to him.
There are a host of tenant bills that have failed to see the light of day in the current Senate (thanks in large part to Sen. Espada). Your district has properties that fall under Rent Control and Rent Stabilization regulations -- what is your position generally on the Assembly passed tenant bills and most specifically the repeal of vacancy decontrol?
