Stop Sarah Plain

by: Rep. Steve Israel

Thu Jul 29, 2010 at 11:54:07 AM EDT

First it was Newt Gingrich. Then it was Michele Bachmann. Now it's Sarah Palin getting involved in the NY-2 congressional race by endorsing Sean Hannity's best friend.

Right-wing radio host Sean Hannity is giving everything he's got to winning a Congressional seat for his best friend since third grade John Gomez.

But instead of talking about the issues facing Long Islanders, Hannity is working to prop up Gomez with support from a bunch of right-wing names from far far away.

Sarah Palin lost the 2008 election. She resigned as governor. She can't vote in my district. And I am not about to let this become an election about who Sarah Palin likes best.

While my opponent is busy on Facebook with Palin, or meeting Gingrich at a private jet terminal, or standing shoulder to shoulder with Michele Bachman and the Tea Party, I am going to be busy talking to Long Islanders about the economy, about jobs and about tax fairness for middle class families.

Stand with me to stop Sarah Palin by becoming a supporter on Facebook or signing up for my email list. Let's tell Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity and John Gomez that their right-wing parade is coming to an end.

I've seen the banner ad on the NY Times site (0.00 / 0)
And I'm happy to say I clicked on it, thus slightly draining Gomez's campaign funds.  You are by far the better choice, Congressman, keep up the good fight.

Right wing pundits who say things that your (0.00 / 0)
constituents want to hear and respond to: smaller, limited government; relief from the crushing weight of Federal regulations on small businesses; and lower taxes.

You sound like a bad parody. (4.00 / 1)
I bet you can't describe what SPECIFIC "crushing regulations" you're referring to.

The Pikes Peak Country Attractions Association? (0.00 / 0)

You mean Healthcare Reform? Those horrible regulations! (0.00 / 0)
Insurers can't deny coverage to sick people!

Insurers can't impose annual or lifetime limits!

People will have access to preventive care!

The HORROR!  THE HORROR!!!!!

[ Parent ]
Pretty "horrible" if you like the coverage you have now. (0.00 / 0)
Do you understand that someone has to pay for care if there are no lifetime limits and that will tank small businesses or, more likley, prompt them to drop their plans and dump their employees into the Exchanges? (Which is what seems to happen anyway, if Commonwealth Connector is any indication.)

Do you understand that access to prevenative care for free neutralizes any incentive to shop for care, at a level where people can.  Do you understand that giving people the opportunity to shop for care (using HSAs, for example) would BOTH improve clinical outcomes AND reduce costs?

We could have had market based reform that would have reduced costs, increased portabiliy and improved clinical outcomes by adopting Ryan's bill.  Instead, we have PPACA, which no one supports. which will have to de-funded and repealed if we want real reform.  "The Horror" is right.
