| It's official: Bill Stachowski's decades in Albany are at an end. He's been unseated by Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy, who now goes into November running against Republican nominee Jack Quinn III.
This is less a victory for the good guys as a whole than it is for certain activism groups. Stachowski was one of the eight "Dems" who voted against the marriage equality bill last fall, making him a high priority target for gay rights groups. Kennedy is pledged in favor of marriage equality, so that's one vote down.
That said, Kennedy is closely associated with Steve Pigeon, and was one of the instigators of the coup that handed control of the Erie County Legislature to the Republican minority and few Democrats looking for patronage. |
