Clay Davis's Pedro's concession speech:

Sounds to me like he's going to run again in 2012.  Bring it on, twerp.

But ain't it sweet to know he will not be in our legislature anymore?

2012? (4.00 / 2)
If he's not in jail.

We've got some work ahead of us.

And the best thing about his loss (4.00 / 1)
is that he now has one less bargaining chip with prosecutors

I beg to differ (4.00 / 2)
Roatti you are usually spot on in your analysis -- but Pedro's loss of a "bargaining chip" is not the best thing -- not even close.

Don't get me wrong, the thought of this craven, self-serving, ineffectual blowhard from Mamaroneck serving some time in a federal pen makes me very happy.

Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head that are better: 1.) Simply getting this embarrassment out of office.  He is a blight on my community. 2.) Electing someone who honestly seems interested in reform and doing something for the district.  3.) Removing Espada from the Housing Committee of the Senate and increasing the likelihood of passage of all the bills he bottled up for his landlord puppeteers.  I am sure I can think of others if I took the time.

The admittedly warm feeling I get thinking about Espada doing time pales in comparison to all these things.

Good points (4.00 / 1)
perhaps it's not the best thing, but it is still a big plus

It's the proverbial cherry... (4.00 / 1)
...on top of one the best sundaes ever made!

I'm still riding the high from Tuesday night.  Espada was not only beaten; he was eviscerated. Besides the obvious benefits we have listed, this election helps to dispel some of myths that many still hold (even in progressive circles) about the Bronx.  I am sick and tired of all the snarky comments about how uncritical and easily manipulated we voters in the Bronx are.  The people of my district spoke loud and clear -- when given a real choice (not like 2008) we Bronxites showed this state that we are some of the best, brightest and most beautiful people in NY!

Props to Bronx News Network (4.00 / 1)
By the way -- I wanted to mention that the video Roatti linked was shot by a reporter from the Bronx News Network -- an amazing resource here in the Bronx.  Their coverage of Espada in general over the years and of this primary was some of the best.  People should check it out.

Indeed (0.00 / 0)
they have done a great job covering Bronx politics

Why Does NYS DSCC Still List Espada as a Candidate? (0.00 / 0)
Come on... we worked really hard to get rid of him -- the least you could do is update your website!!

http://newyorksenatedems.com/c...

If you click further, you see something of an update and it is clear that Gustavo Rivera is the candidate -- but Espada should not be on the "Candidate's List" in the link I provided.  The voters in the 33rd made sure he is not the candidate.  Remove the name!
