SD-40: Greg Ball is Afraid of Mike Kaplowitz

by: Roatti

Sun Sep 19, 2010 at 15:48:37 PM EDT

First crazy person Greg Ball refused to debate his GOP primary opponent.  Now, he is hiding out in some cave because he's afraid that Mike Kaplowitz might remind him to his face that he failed to pass a single bill in 4 years in the Assembly.  But I guess I can't blame him too much- if you were a staffer for a teabagging lunatic of Ball's ilk, wouldn't you want to avoid debates at all costs?

Mike Kaplowitz for State Senate

Boy, you must really be afraid of Ball. Why? (0.00 / 0)

Because he's a crazy person (4.00 / 1)
and if he gets elected to our legislature it diminishes my faith in the electoral process

Note this: (0.00 / 0)
no real surprise a Republican didn't pass a bill in the Assembly.

Ball is a wingnut loon, (0.00 / 0)
but he hasn't passed a bill he's sponsored in the Assembly because NO ONE in the minority has done so in recent memory.

That's how Albany works, and that's not Ball's fault.

Kaplowitz surely has other issues he can highlight regarding Ball's record and temperament.

True (4.00 / 1)
but he is clearly not interested in governing, just wingnut lunacy

Ball has to be the favorite (0.00 / 0)
since this is an open seat in a district drawn to elect a Republican in a year where the Republican candidates will have the wind at their backs.

Kaplowitz will make it close due to the even registration in the district, but the mood of the electorate, particularly non-affiliated voters is not favorable to Democrats unless they are running statewide and can run up margins in NYC.

Mike Kaplowitz is hardly a threat to Ball (0.00 / 1)
Kaplowitz may sound tough but, forget about Greg Ball, he's scared to even take questions from his constituents http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

He's also too scared to run on his own record and for good reason because it confirms that he was kissing Andy Spano's butt for most of the last 13 years and all he's got to show for it is higher taxes for Westchester, the housing settlement  and a goofy photo of him and Bill Clinton.  Way to go Mike!

A newbie trashing a Democratic (4.00 / 1)
state Senate candidate is presumably on Mean Dean's payroll.

Have a TR.

Kaplowitz is the favorite (4.00 / 2)
As of April 1, registration shows a 3,000 voter edge for Democrats.  There are 9.700 Independence Party and 4,500 Conservative Party enrollees, but there are also 50,000 "blanks."  Two years ago, Republicans outnumbered Democrats by almost 3,000 voters, so the district is trending blue.

Money -- as of the July filing, Kaplowitz had $69K cash on hand, and that was two months ago.  Meanwhile, in his 11-day pre-primary filing, Ball only had $31K cash on hand and $24K in outstanding loans.

In other words, Kaplowitz has a growing base, he's rational, and he has a lot more money to spend.  Yeah, he's the favorite.

So it will be all about GOTV (0.00 / 0)
Like everywhere else.
