NY-18: Lowey's challenger opposes interracial marriage and school integration; supports eugenics.

by: Adama D. Brown

Mon Sep 20, 2010 at 17:18:35 PM EDT

I wish that this were something out of the Onion, I really do.

Jim Russell, a right-wing activist running against Congresswoman Nita Lowey in the 18th district mid-state, has a rather interesting past. Specifically, writing lengthy essays in support of white supremacy.

Russell wrote an essay entitled "The Western Contribution to World History," which was published in the 2001/2002 issue of the magazine "Occidental Quarterly," which has been described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as "racist" and whose "editors and advisory board members have constituted a 'Who's Who' of the radical right, and its regular publication of extremists' articles has made it a favorite among academic racists in America."

That might sound bad, sure, but are we sure they're not exaggerating?

They're not. In fact, if the character of Russell's essay is representative, they're understating the situation. It lauds efforts of "scientists" like Arthur Jensen and others who have spent years trying to "prove" that whites are genetically more intelligent than black people. It describes an "optimal society" by quoting T. S. Eliot: "reasons of race and culture combine to make any large number of free-thinking Jews undesirable." It was so bad that it was republished with pride on the website of no less than David Duke, former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

Below, you'll find some of the other money quotes from Russel's "essay." Emphasis mine. Have a barf bag ready.

It has been demonstrated that finches raised by foster parents of a different species of finch will later exhibit a lifelong sexual attraction toward the alien species. One wonders how a child's sexual imprinting mechanism is affected by forcible racial integration and near continual exposure to media stimuli promoting interracial contact. The most serious implication of human sexual imprinting for our genetic future is that it would establish the destructiveness of school integration, especially in the middle and high-school years. One can only wonder to what degree the advocates of school integration, such as former NAACP attorney Jack Greenberg, were conscious of this scientific concept. It also compounds the culpability of media moguls who deliberately popularize miscegenation in films directed toward adolescents and pre-adolescents. In the midst of this onslaught against our youth, parents need to be reminded that they have a natural obligation, as essential as providing food and shelter, to instill in their children an acceptance of appropriate ethnic boundaries for socialization and for marriage.

The sociobiological warfare that our youth is subjected to is likely to be even more diabolical since it appears to deliberately exploit a biological theory of sexual imprinting at the critical period of sexual maturity. Movies like this past year's spate of miscegenationist titles, Save the Last Dance, Crazy / Beautiful and O, a parody of Othello, appear deliberately designed to exploit the critical period of sexual imprinting in their target audiences of white pre-adolescent girls and adolescent young women.

There is now afoot a conscious effort to de-Europeanize and to re-Judaize Christianity, through scriptural revision, internal treachery and external pressure.

The importance of applying eugenic measures in the West becomes evident from Richard Lynn's recent work on Dysgenics and his just-released seminal work Eugenics: A Reassessment.

This is the sort of man that the Republican Party wants in the halls of the United States Congress.

Free Speech Rant (0.00 / 0)
Free Speech.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

When are people going to realize that "free speech" like this is just as dangerous and unjustifiable as child pornography?

Y'know, there's a lot of people in the world.  And I'm not in a good mood today.  So I'm going to go ahead and suggest we systematically remove all racists from society.  Just get it done already, y'know?  The only reason hatred like this exists is because it's learned.  It is actively taught too, passed on generationally from shit-spewing father to shit-eating son.  You've got to just get rid of them and keep them out of earshot of children for a few generations, and stuff like this will finally go away.

Because shit like Russel's "essay" isn't the real culprit.  That stuff is just kiddie porn for the demonic faithful.  The people who read stuff like that are already racist, they consume it because it makes them feel smart.  It's the kiddie porn; the actual rape takes place at kitchen tables and in front of television screens in living rooms all over the country, but especially in rural areas and in larger number in the Old Confederacy. That's where guys like Jim Russel get made, guys, and it's been like that the whole time.

In other words, wake the fuck up:  You wouldn't accept a society that doesn't jail Mr. I Love To Fuck Little Boys And Film It;  So why the fuck do we accept a society that fails to imprision Mr. I Love To Teach Little Boys To Hate Niggers?  Because that's how we've been operating for five fucking thousand years.  And like fucking idiots, we've been telling ourselves "we're making progress" the whole time.

Those three words are so fucking stupid.  "We're making progress."  I've got my own three words in response, and it's also something that can't happen unless you make serious surgical alterations...

Seriously, the world needs to start treating hateful speech like this the same way it treats child pornography.  It is speech that serves no useful purpose to society. Verily, it only serves to cause a great deal of lasting harm.  As such, we have created the proper consequences for kiddie porn that go all the way to the source in an attempt to eliminate the idea that kiddie is porn is any good under any circumnstnace.  That is, if you arrest and jail the goon who stores the finished product only, you don't stop the problem.  You have to go after the source, the producers, the distributors.

Extend the analogy to this, and you see what I'm getting out.  This kind of thing serves no useful purpose, and the idea of racism is directly responsible for tons of harm to society.  So why don't we go after racists the way we go after child molestors?  You know, so they can't cause any harm to children?

Here's a tough question to consider, sorry if it makes anyone queasy.  But honestly, what's worse: the rape of a child's body, or the rape of a child's mind?

Once you realize how ridiculous and unanswerable that question is, you'll realize how ridiculous it is that we don't jail racists for life.

People, you won't have liberty and justice for all until there is some kind of consequence for bending it over, fucking it in the ass, distributing a record of it, and completely mind-fucking innocent children in the process.  So we attempt to kill the idea not just by pointing out it's negative consequences, but by enforcing negative consequences on those who think it's ok and act on those thoughts.

Now why the fuck aren't we treating racism the same way when no other idea has had civilization bent over since the beginning of time and is still evidently balls deep?

Thanks for posting this Adama, even if did make me go berserk.  People gotta be made aware of this shit.  And for fuck's sake they better get pissed about it too.  Having a guy like this actually running for Congress in this day in age is just unnacceptable and it say terrible, terrible things about the "progress" we've made.

Bad Speech is fought with Good Speech (4.00 / 1)
Your analogy does not work. The making of child pornography is, in and of itself, a crime. Talking about adult/child sex is not a crime and such speech is, rightly, protected.

The analogy necessarily brings up consideration of what happens when there is no child in the creation of the artifact. That is, the words about child pornography can be typed with no child in the same building (and computer generated or cartoon child porn can be created without a real child, too). The essay is vile (as well as scientifically suspect, conflating "race" and "species"...I begin to understand where problems understanding evolution develop). It is also, definitionally, protected speech.

I am all for protesting this slimeball, sending money to his opponent, denouncing him on TV and all of that. I take your post as prescribing silencing him either legally or by extralegal means and that is too dangerous to our democracy. When the GOP relegates protesters to "free speech zones" or someone is detained by the Secret Service for repeating the VP's epithets back to him, it is wrong. It is equally wrong to silence Nazis, fundies, white (or black or green) supremecists, etc.

You must have hit a nerve: I created an account because your prescription bothered me so much. Bad speech is combatted by good speech.

I understand the concerns (0.00 / 0)
And they are well-reasoned, valid concerns.  I can see where someone would read my post and conclude it is the slippery slope to authoritarianism.

But that's not what I'm proposing.  And, frankly, if combatting bad speech with good speech worked, then "Do unto others as you would have done to you" would have been successful by now.

But it isn't.  You cannot use language to reason with people who are unreasonable.  Unreasonable people are dangerous.  Society has all sorts of laws that have been enacted based on our consensus as to just what kind of unreasonable behavior should have some consequences.

You wanna drink?  Sure.  I say lower the drinking age for goodness sake.  But do you wanna drive around drunk?  We give you several warnings, and if you end up harming someone, even indirectly, you are removed from society.  You owe a debt to it.

Speech needs to be considered the same.  It's the fire in the theater cliche.  It's the libel and slander laws.  And we already have stuff on the books that will punish those for hate speech in the workplace and hate crimes on the street.

Another decent analogy I like to make is drug addiction.  This is a behavior that is also learned, and causes harm to the user and those around them.  It's people who have lost control.  So not only do make the sale of the substance illegal, shutting down it's distribution method, but often we round up the drug user as well.  The approach varies (some states just throw you in jail, others try rehabilitation) but the idea is the same.  You have to remove the threat to society.

For chrissake, we live in a country where you can't say "fuck" on TV supposed to protect children's virgin ears when at the same time millions of children are being educated by their parents to believe that there people and then there are "niggers."  Those people are the threat to society here.  Our society needs to have negative consequences for this.  And we don't.

Reasonable people can make a distinction between controversial speech that should be protected (a stand-up comedy routine about race, a theatrical produciton of Raisin the Sun, ect.) and speech that serves only to cause very direct harm to society in general.

Sunuvabitch...this nation has invaded other countries because enough of it's people believe we need to stop the indoctrination of kids in madrassas!  This is because the same small (racist) minority of the electoral makes the most noise and has the most money.  If the rest of the country would just wake the fuck up, we might be able to get jail time for assholes who teach their kids to hate people of other races, or who attempt to justify such a dangerous idea with the intent to spread its acceptance.

Jeez, you wouldn't have tried to stop the Nazis?  Listen: if the German people had stood up and said to their government that they could not allow all that anti-Jewish propaganda, do you realize just how many people would still be alive today?  Nobody stood up.  Do I have to requote the whole thing?

Racism is terrorism.  It's psychological warfare.  You don't fight it by being nicey nice.  You fight it.  You make the culprits pay.  You fight until they are annihilated or too scared to come out in any significant numbers.  You'll never be able to get rid of the problem forever, or there will be resurgences in radicalism, that's for sure.   But for God's sake you do something about it.

I realize what I wish would happen probably never will.  By I stand by my assessment that it's what we've been having to do for as long as racism has been around.  Yes, I think I've solved the problem: society needs to consider racists the same way they consider criminals if they show no signs of remorse, and as addicts who can possibly be rehabilitated after showing signs they wish to recover from their disease.

Excellent. Exactly right (0.00 / 0)
An example of how to deal with racists came from a KKK march in Knoxville, Tennessee:

"White Power!" the Nazi's shouted, "White Flour?" the clowns yelled back running in circles throwing flour in the air and raising separate letters which spelt "White Flour".

"White Power!" the Nazi's angrily shouted once more, "White flowers?" the clowns cheers and threw white flowers in the air and danced about merrily.

"White Power!" the Nazi's tried once again in a doomed and somewhat funny attempt to clarify their message, "ohhhhhh!" the clowns yelled "Tight Shower!" and held a solar shower in the air and all tried to crowd under to get clean as per the Klan's directions.

At this point several of the Nazi's and Klan members began clutching their hearts as if they were about to have a heart attack. Their beady eyes bulged, and the veins in their tiny narrow foreheads beat in rage. One last time they screamed "White Power!"

The clown women thought they finally understood what the Klan was trying to say. "Ohhhhh..." the women clowns said. "Now we understand...", "WIFE POWER!" they lifted the letters up in the air, grabbed the nearest male clowns and lifted them in their arms and ran about merrily chanting "WIFE POWER! WIFE POWER! WIFE POWER!"

WIFE POWER!

If only people were willing to do this with misogyny, too. (0.00 / 0)
I suspect, though, that Soundpolitic even would back down really fast if he was treated like a child pornographer for talking around girls as if females were less human than males. All the snide comments about buying shoes, like Obama made at the town hall, the tremendous deluge of anti-gender stuff that is unconscious to most of us would have most of us in jail, even the wardens, and even the president.

The reason this won't happen, is the same reason it won't happen for female-bashing or queer-bashing, most people don't have a problem with it, in their heart of hearts.

Nope (0.00 / 0)
There very much the same issue.  Misogyny is merely a specific form of racism against women of all races, and so it's quite unique as well.

Let me assure you: I'm perfectly willing to do the same thing with misogyny.  And I'm glad to report that the majority of my fellow citizens have made it so.  We already have laws that jail wife-beaters, regulations that fight employers who would pay you less (BTW...you think I'm making a stink about inequality and ethnicity...don't get me started on economics...and be careful, because the REAL slippery slope here is that alot of American racism is economically motivated).

But we don't have laws that stop the racists beating it into their daughters heads that they are too good for a black guy...but aren't worth as much as one of their "own kind."

Y'know, the real misogyny here isn't some dumb statement about shoes that you took the wrong wrong way.  Does Miss High and Mighty have nothing to say about the incredibly mysoginist act of brainwashing girls to believe they shouldn't marry other people of races as a manner of biological warfare?

You can't reason with the racists.  You sure as hell just can't make fun of them and think you've won.  And you can't ignore them.  Ignoring them is all we have ever done...

...and now that we have our first black president, just how many people think he's Muslim again??

It's because we've done nothing to stop them.  Do you not realize that the only reason a racist continues to think the way he does is because all of racism has the same, fundamental, fairy tale ending.

Two questions: Do I really have to explain what that is?  And why the fuck would you fight that kind of shit in a clown suit unless you were one of those self-righteous liberal assholes from South Park that smell their own farts and chortle with pleasure?

I stand by my shit, because even it does stink, this country needs to wake the fuck up.  Unfortunately, whenever a conversation on discrimination gets started, it takes five minutes to reveal that if you have people who just think an off-comment about shoes is somehow the same thing as what I'm talking about.

People have a right to say dumb things.  They should not have the right to say dangerous things and spread them and force them onto their children.  If we can prohibit religions that actively practice human sacrifice, we can fucking outlaw racism.

In closing...I'm sorry to both you guys, like I said, I wasn't in a good mood to start with and this stuff just really pissed me off this morning.  I'm just passionate about the way language is used, and if you'll notice some of the words Adama pointed out (eugenics, miscreganwhatever...guh) are just far more damaging, and I was really really hoping these 19th century throwbacks would be extinct by now.

That, and the argument I'm making is one I'm willing to defend.

So, there are laws against brainwashing girls and boys that the feminine is less than (4.00 / 1)
I don't think so. Just as there are laws against discriminating against women, but none to regulate the brainwashing, there are laws against discriminating against minorities, but none to regulate the brainwashing. The shoes comment is evidence of the brainwashing, and you are really oppressive to expect women to put up with that sort of treatment. Just as you would be to expect a minority to excuse all the unconsciously racist comments they hear every day. They are the same, but you are putting me down for bringing up the misogyny, sadly. I never ONCE tried to minimize your concerns about racial brainwashing, why are you doing the same to me?

As a matter of fact, I am a member of a mixed race family, from Arizona originally, and these racial issues are tearing my family apart, so my concern is huge, just as it is for the discrimination against women I also have to deal with everyday, and then suffer putdowns from supposed allies. And so it goes, the blindness is normal when we don't suffer the effects, isn't it? It's just a little mistake on the part of the blind, but part of a huge wall of oppression for those who have live with it.

Wake up!

Bah (0.00 / 0)
You said this:

I suspect, though, that Soundpolitic even would back down really fast if he was treated like a child pornographer for talking around girls as if females were less human than males

Now I may have misread it, but to me, that was kind of minimizing my idea.  And I had to point out that your insinuation that Obama's comments is the same type of thing as this Jim Russel character's support for eugenics was very poor reasoning.  In the end, you served to prove a very important point: that my idea will never happen precisely because you're not going to get people who care too much and think that every little thing is some form of racism or oppressive.

I can't even find what Obama said.  What the hell has you so offended?  Suddenly, I'm "opressive" according to you because I don't agree with your sentiments about what's misogynist.  Don't you see:  you are the reason my idea will never work.  Because all the over sensitive types will claim that jokes about shoes should land you in jail.  Gimme a fucking break.

I suppose if you saw me chatting with a friend and overheard me saying "Oooh, she's hot" you'd think I was misogynist.  Nevermind that you have no idea who I am and that women are sexual beings (their human, right?) and that saying that to another buddy hurts nobody and that if you did know who I was you know I'd have to work up courage for three months to go over and ask that chick what time it was.  But you probably would have concluded I was misognyist real quick.  Gosh...who was quick to judge who here?

Seriously, what the hell did the guy say that has you up in arms anyway?  I need to knwo this and I can't find anything!  Go read my first post and tell me: would I be quiet if Obama said something misogynist?  I mean, really, really discriminatory and dangerous like this Jim Russel suggesting we are at biological war?  Hmm?  Think I'd be quiet about it?

Just FYI, for anyone still reading this, this was the whole reason I went ahead with the craziness of the first rant.  I just knew somebody would come over here and prove that my idea could never work for the opposite reasons.  Take from it what you will.  And sorry, but my verdict here is that racists still need to go to jail...and people who accuse other people of misogyny at a shoe drop need to twist one up and chill the fuck out.

Anyway, sorry bout the strong language and such.  I get excitable.  Don't think I don't like ya, I just debate hard core.   I get ornery with everyone here, sometimes even  my best friends.   That, and you got spunk, kid.  And after all, you did agree witht my main point.  Welcome to the Albany Project  :-)

I'm pretty sure this read better in the original German.

Don't Laugh!!! (0.00 / 0)
It's not funny!  This man is clearly an Anti-Duestchebag and needs to go to jail!  I'm the Racial Tolerance Gestaspo motherfcuker, get down on the ground, lemme see the hands!  Now you get to go to jail and be around a whole bunch of actual Nazis!  Yeah, you like that?  Maybe you'll learn something about tolerance when you see the impact your diseased thoughts have had on those poor, innocent, exploited Nazis, then perhaps you'll understand why I have to handcuff you right now for laughting at that.  Your mother shoulda taught you better boy....but your momma ain't here right now is she?  Is she!!??

Self-criticism (0.00 / 0)
Every now and then, I blow a gasket on these boards.

Which means every now and then I get to look back and read all the foolish ways I've presented my many excellent ideas :-)  That's not self-medication...it's self-defeating!

But if I can't laugh at myself, nobody else will.  Good to hear the local GOP has disowned this guy but, man, this story just struck a nerve with me somehow on a day when they were shot already I guess.
