A lesson for you from Sidney-freaking-New-York

Possibly by now you will have heard the sad saga of Sidney Town Supervisor Bob McCarthy, who wants to sue a group of Sufi Muslims here and force them to desecrate the graves and exhume the bodies in the tiny cemetery they have on their private property.

Once the story made it to The Huffington Post, Olbermann picked it up long enough to name McCarthy his Worst Person in the World:

Having kept an eye on him since he took office this past January, I can say that this is not the first time that King Bob has saddled up his mouth without checking out whether he has the relevant laws or rules on his side. In fact, in the context of incipient malfeasance, this little brouhaha is small change.

But I bring this up because I've noticed that there's an election coming up in a few weeks.

You see, during last year's campaign, I know that I had quite a lot of support in Sidney. In fact, I had enough support (even just among Democrats) that I should have won that election. But, of course, support doesn't mean anything if your supporters don't go vote.

So, let this be a lesson to you.

WHEN DEMOCRATS DON'T VOTE, THINGS LIKE BOB MCCARTHY HAPPEN.

And, if you think it's bad at the town level, imagine what it would be like if we found ourselves talking about Governor Paladino next year ...
