Received a Paladino message-testing poll tonight

Received a call in Brooklyn from a (barely intelligible) pollster with a Utah caller ID tonight, testing the following negative attacks against Andrew Cuomo. Many seemed specifically tailored to turn off progressives.

(It was the same poll blogged by Maggie Haberman.)

"Would you be more or less likely to vote for Cuomo knowing that:"

- There are no African-Americans, Jews, or Hispanics on the Democratic ticket.
- He was involved in the failure of Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae.
- He received the endorsement of the Working Families Party.
- He supported building a mosque near ground zero.
- He refused to investigate Eliot Spitzer for money laundering.
- As HUD Secretary, he launched investigations into African American mayors.
- [A question about Steve Rattner and the state pension funds scandal]
- He says he supports same-sex marriange but refused to call Democrats to help it pass the State Senate.
- He refuses to take part in debates that would include minor party, African American candidates.

Would you be less likely to vote for Carl Paladino... (4.00 / 1)
If you knew he was using Teleperformance USA, a Utah-based call center that has paid millions in fines in recent years for overtime violations and all this happens

Because they are by FAR the largest call center in Utah.

should say (0.00 / 0)
"violations and where all this happens?"

Could be worse (0.00 / 0)
They could have outsourced this to a call center in India.

Classic push poll (0.00 / 0)
This guy is scum.

We've got some work ahead of us.

Not a push poll (4.00 / 1)
A push poll calls hundreds of thousands of people and asks them 1 or 2 questions designed to make the candidate sound bad; there's way too many questions here for that. A push poll is not a real poll and will not ask for demographics and will not record the results.

This is message testing so he can make smear ads.

Yes (0.00 / 0)
This was a message-testing poll, not a push poll.  Many questions, lasted at least 15 minutes. Luckily I was able to cut up vegetables for dinner at the same time.

What scum (0.00 / 0)
I really do think this monster will do anything, or say anything, to become Governor. Buckle up, this race is going to get real freaky.

Paladino was on Capital Tonight (0.00 / 0)
the YNN show last night. The only thing coming out of his mouth was filth politics. The host, Liz Benjamin, kept trying to keep in focused on answering her questions, including questions about Paladino's meltdown with the New York Post reporter, but all Paladino could do was start trying to throw mud all over the place...about Steve Rattner and some other guy, about Cuomo allegedly having an affair (which is weird since Mr. Paladino not only had an affair, but a child out of wedlock while he was married), etc., etc.

He came across as a desperate, despicable character who would say or do anything to get what he wants. Yeah...that's what we need...another megalomaniacal elected official who thinks he can do or say anything to get what he wants.

My impression is that this campaign is not going to be pretty...and Paladino has signalled that he plans to get as filthy and nasty as it takes to smear Cuomo.

What's scary (0.00 / 0)
is I know people voting for him knowing that he'll be a disaster because they think the state needs to be destroyed to be saved

You Don't Know (4.00 / 1)
How I fear the election of Paladino.  Last I heard, Cuomo's lead is in the single digits while a few weeks ago it was double digited.  Will someone with Cuomo's ear PLEASE tell him to get out there and stop handing out policy brochures which nobody reads?  It's critical that he starts talking about issues or we may wake up on Nov 3rd to learn Paladino is our next Governor.
