| SUSA, which had Gillibrand in a virtual dead heat with DioGuardi two weeks ago, now finds Gillibrand up by 19, 54-35.
And Quinnipiac, which had Gillibrand up by just six, now finds her ahead by 55-34.
Carl Paladino's highly-publicized upset win in the GOP governor primary probably helped DioGuardi at first, but Crazy Carl's outrageous campaign since then certainly hurt DioGuardi, and every other New York Republican running this year.
Gillibrand has put the pedal to the metal, with almost daily press releases and a TV ad or two pointing out DioGuardi's many faults.
For example, while DioGuardi claimed to be the first CPA elected to Congress, he was not. Nor would he be the first CPA in the Senate, as he also claimed, in the highly unlikely event he ever gets there.
And DioGuardi has not even been a practicing CPA for 14 years, and only re-registered this week after he was called on it.
And DioGuardi, back when he was a practicing CPA, cheated on his taxes.
Gillibrand is in it to win it, and DioGuardi may not even carry his former Congressional District.
This is good news for many more Democratic candidates than Gillibrand herself -- her strong performance in this year's election, along with those of Andrew Cuomo and Chuck Schumer, will help literally hundreds of Democratic Congressional, State Senate and Assembly candidates in New York. |
