Carl Paladino, Deviant

I begin to suspect this campaign is all an elaborate hoax.

Republican candidate for governor Carl P. Paladino told a gathering in Williamsburg Sunday that children should not be "brainwashed" into thinking that homosexuality is acceptable, and criticized his opponent, Democrat Andrew M. Cuomo, for marching in a gay pride parade earlier this year. [..]

And then, to applause from the group at Congregation Shaarei Chaim, he said: "I didn't march in the gay parade this year - the gay pride parade this year. My opponent did and that's not the example we should be showing our children."

Newsday.com reported that Mr. Paladino's prepared text also included a sentence saying: "There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual.'' But Mr. Paladino omitted that statement when he gave the speech.

Listen, idiot, this is how it works: you wake up one morning on the cusp of puberty and realize you've just had a wet dream about a boy, and you're a boy. Ooops.

And then you spend the next few years desperately trying to fit in, to out-boy all the other boys, until you finally have enough. If you're lucky, there's someone there who cares.

And then you spend the rest of your life trying to convince idiots, like you, Carl, that it's really not all about the clothes and the cosmopolitans and the dance music and the chic apartment and the menu French and the gym membership and so on and so forth.

Now here's the fun part. You're running for governor. Ask your fellow neanderthal, Harold Ford, how running against the gays worked out for him.

Bye now.

Not all bigots are Carl Paladino (4.00 / 3)
but all Carl Paladinos are bigots

Hmm... (4.00 / 2)
I think Carl A Paladino of Michalis Ct. in West Islip and Carl Paladino of N. Clinton Ave in Lindenhurst might have something to say about that ;-)

http://www.yellowpages.com/fin...

But seriously yeah he's an @$$.

Correction: (4.00 / 3)
all Carl Paladinos running for Governor of New York in 2010 are bigots

Love this line: (4.00 / 2)
Listen, idiot, this is how it works: you wake up one morning on the cusp of puberty and realize you've just had a wet dream about a boy, and you're a boy. Ooops.

That's a very, very good way to put it.  There's only one caveat:

The "ooops" is kinda universal :-)

Let's see if I can summarize Carl's worldview here. (4.00 / 2)
In Carl's book: gay people having stable, normal relationships = bad.

But a woman getting sodomized by a horse is not just okay, but something you should share with your friends.

Congratulations Carl. You've managed to take somebody who communicates for a living and render me utterly speechless with disgust.

Just saw him on Morning Show (4.00 / 2)
He was all "I have gays working for me," and "I think it's by birth, not by choice," and "I think the Post owes me an apology."

That zombie needs to crawl back into his crypt.

"I have gays working for me?" (4.00 / 2)
Thats even worse than "I have black friends". Why? Because you know who had Black people working for them? Slave owners.

What an idiot.

I guess carl does not want the gay vote (4.00 / 1)
of anyone, one who is republican that is gay.
He wants to just have a losing party on Tuesday.

Don't be so sure (4.00 / 2)
Many gay Republicans (if there are many at all) will probably vote for him anyway. Being a gay Republican is not a position that makes any sense to begin with, their self-loathing blinds them to these insults to their human dignity.

Made a comment today that Andrew Cuomo should not be taking his daughters to Gay Rights Parades.  With so much bullying and unacceptance of Gays or others "different" than what Paladino and those like him consider "normal" when do we teach our children tolerance?  I always felt that it was in their developing years and I fully believe that Cuomo is doing the right thing bringing his daughters to gay and other parades.  Funny, but with this remark and his previous remarks about Cuomo's sex life, I get the feeling that he's trying to paint Cuomo as a bad father.

Is Andrew Cuomo one of the luckiest politicians ever? (4.00 / 2)
The election's not over, so lets not "count our chickens  before they've hatched." However, having said that, Andrew Cuomo has to be one of the luckiest politicians in New York State history, if not American history.

First, the primary person blocking his way to being governor in 2010, Eliot Spitzer, self-imploded after just about a year in office. Then, the incumbent Democratic governor, Dave Paterson, underwent a more elongated, but equally dramatic self-implosion to the point that he was no longer a credible candidate for his party's nomination, let alone for election.

Then, Cuomo, with his warchest, managed to fend off every other potential challenger for the Democratic nomination and won the nomination without having to spend a penny to get it.

Then, Cuomo gets as an opponent one of the most incompetent Republican nominees in this state's history for the general election.

Clearly, Cuomo has also demonstrated some smarts in the way he's conducted himself and his campaign thus far. But, he is either one of the luckiest politicians in New York State history, or one of the shrewdest if he, in any way is responsible for any of the above events.

I always thought Pataki was the luckiest (0.00 / 0)
But I'll admit that this year, Cuomo definitely has a lucky streak going

Amen (0.00 / 0)
Great post. Summarizes pretty much everything that there is to say about this joke and his comments. His sorry attempts to portray himself as not bigoted during the interview would be actually kind of 'funny' -- if he wasn't so scary and dangerous.

so.... (0.00 / 0)
...to paraphrase from either stewart or colbert, and i can't recall which: "does this mark the official start of the 'carl paladino rentboy countdown'"?
