| IBM has made a video to explain the initiative and there's lots of information on their website but, basically, their experts will go to qualifying cities and embed themselves, study local issues in-depth, and work with local officials to create a plan of action. In Rochester, I could see them working with the Neighborhood Service Centers to streamline property code enforcement.
The program would be quite a parting gift to the city and it sounds like a local application of our governor-to-be's visions of efficient, cost-effective government and public/private partnership.
If the Smarter Cities Challenge works in Rochester, maybe IBM can follow Duffy to Albany and help him and Cuomo take on THAT challenge.... |
