Very Late Linkage Thread

It's been a very busy day behind the scenes here at TAP. We apologize for letting the site go silent for so long. We suck.

On the other hand, look for some really cool new features in the next few days. This one is gonna rock your socks. Anyhoo, here's some linky-loos, some clippage just for you. Feel free to use this thread to tell us how much we suck and how we're, ya know, part of the problem and stuff.

  • Silver Foils Pataki Effort to Leave Albany With Bang

  • Pork-abuse pol's gal pal faces the ax:

Indicted State Sen. Efrain Gonzalez Jr.'s gal pal - an alleged accomplice in
her beau's purported charity ripoff - is in danger of losing her
$60,000-a-year taxpayer-funded job, sources said yesterday.

State Sen. Minority Leader David Paterson, who becomes lieutenant governor
in January, is considering canning Lucia (Lucy) Sanchez or placing her on
unpaid leave from her post as his special assistant, the sources said.

    1. It isn't "pork abuse". It's theft.

    2. Why is Paterson even "considering"? Do it. While you're at it, strip Gonzalez of everything. You can't kick his ass out of the Senate, but you can damn sure make it feel that way.

  • Pataki's last-minute appointments and borrowing are unseemly

    No kidding.

  • New leadership elected for New York state Democrats.

    Congrats, June and Dave.

  • Pataki qualified for more than $113,000-a-year pension.

For whatever incredibly unlikely reason Pataki does not become our next President, at least he'll have some dough in the bank. Not that he'll need it....

Whose job goes on the line? (4.00 / 3)
Why is Patterson even "considering"? Do it. While you're at it, strip Gonzalez of everything.

I think it was you that noted elsewhere that NY Democrats, who could have seen as easily as anyone else that the Senate and Governor races were going to provide the possibility of very long coattails, decided that they were so happy with the current arrangement that they would give the whole competition thing a pass. This despite having, what, around $800,000 in the coffers ostensibly waiting for a year with a watershed nature like this one.

The message I would love to appear is, New York government Republicans, New York government Democrats, if you think that maintaining your quality of life is simply a matter of back-scratching across the aisle, in a cozy arrangement that leaves out the best interests of your consitutuents, some of us are aiming to fire you.

David Patterson, you may be safe in the Lt. Governor's seat. But shy away from the only proper response to this abuse of public funds, and you add fuel to the fire of campaigns against Democratic incumbents for their role in a culture of corruption. Sheldon Silver, the same goes for you. Those involved with the Hevesi mess, the same goes for you. Joe Bruno, you are building a spectacular case for the defeat of incumbent Senate Republicans.

The public is nearing the point of realizing you all are incapable of handling the responsibility placed in your hands. And if they finally get fed up enough, it could make the shift in the Federal government makeup that just occurred look tame in comparison.

So, Mr. Paterson, don't dawdle. You can either fire a crooked pol's girlfriend, or eventually the voters of New York State can fire a whole lot of legislators.

    What'll it be?

that's the comment of the day, matt (0.00 / 0)
    spot on.

TODAY is day one. It always is.
