she's the sweetest, smartest shelter dog ever. minutes ago, in the middle of a rather fierce thunderstorm here in brooklyn, she gave me the "yeah, i know it sucks outside, but i gots to go" look. i took her outside and she immediately found a spot (not her specialty as she's kinda picky) that afforded me a modicum of shelter and immediately got down to business. then she turned right around for our front door.

smart one, she is and so happy to be out of the shelter. oh, and she's about 9 months old.

crap, i've already started, haven't i?

she was a stray (4.00 / 1)

picked up on dekalb and throop here in brooklyn and she should be totally messed up. she's not. she feels the need to stop and say hello to everybody. she loves people. she loves other dogs and she really seems to love kids. fortunately the kids really seem to love her too.

at least half a dozen times in the 24 hours or so that i've had her, folks on the street have just stopped to say hello and pet her. she's just got that vibe.

she totally reminds me of "petey" in the little rascals.

And I don't think 'cute critter' posts hurt a blog. Greenheron's right that it reminds people there are animals in need of homes, and I think it gives us all a chance to slow down for a moment.

unlike marcel, who i loved dearly, she's not insane and doesn't have any of those street dog bad habits. she loves other dogs and hasn't so much looked twice at the garbage.

she's a sweetheart. you are going to totally fall for her like i did.
