It wasn't Jimmy Dahroug. But I won't divulge my sources because this is "unofficial." No official announcement has been made, which I mentioned in my post.

...posting this strikes me as ill-advised. I got the same story and didn't run it, because there is no independent backup, and because, simply, if the man doesn't want to run, well, let him say so himself.

At this point, this is hear-say, and if untrue, damaging to a campaign. And if people think Dahroug is behind the rumor, which would be a natural enough assumption to make, it won't make good blood for him either. And of course, people would assume it's sourced to Jimmy, based on simple cui bono.

Like I said, I didn't run this, and seeing it here confirms my initial gut feeling that that was the right choice.

Independent sources (0.00 / 0)

I talked to someone with knowledge of this who told me exactly what I wrote. Nothing is official yet, but in discussions this is what he said.

I received a phone call today that provided me with that independent backup.

I, too, wasn't going to run with it. But this other source provided me with solid information. And it was someone in discussions with Bodkin when he said this about not running.

Considering the criticisms dealt me on these pages when I quoted my (0.00 / 0)

actual conversations with Marc Lapidus and Sen. Schneiderman with absolutely no understanding of off the record, I find that running a story like this that is pure rumor with nothing more than a source that we need to take the post originators word was a knowledgeable source, rather remarkable to say the least!  Smells like a Dahroug campaign based rumor to me!

And my source allowed me to quote him or her. I didn't post random conversations here. I mentioned a one-on-one phone conversation I had.
