Why Blogs Rule

Just received this email:

thanks for putting up the picture of the scary queer flyer. I was able to get Craig two more votes from it. These two people were not planning to vote cause they didnt think it was that important. But they got all riled up and now they are on their way to their polling places.

Plus, the New York Blade is pretty riled up as well.

Gay Bashing for Votes

Nassau Co. Mailer Warns: A Vote for Dem. Candidate is a Vote for Gay Marriage

But David Verchere, president of the Log Cabin Republicans-which has backed the O'Connell campaign with volunteers and a pledge of $8,000-called the mailer both "mean" and "dumb."

"These tactics are beneath the dignity of the Conservative Party of New York," Verchere said. "They remind us of people like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson who use anti-gay rhetoric to preach hatred and intolerance." He added that the mailing was not indicative of O'Connell's "strong record" on equal rights for all New Yorkers, nor did it reflect the "mainstream values" of the people of Nassau County.

Hear hear.

Umm (4.00 / 1)
Since when are those tactics beneath the dignity of the Conservative Party of New York?  The Log Cabin Republicans should have expected the same dirty tricks from their party as we've seen time and time again.

The LCRs (4.00 / 2)
...are like little puppies that just haven't been kicked enough yet. Every election cycle, people of good will tell them that they will get screwed. But no. "It'll be different this time", they say.

When do polls close? (0.00 / 0)
8:00pm?

or 9:00pm?

9 o'clock (4.00 / 1)
looking for results sometime about 9:45 or so.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

The NRCC was going to send out a similar mailer against Dave Loebsack in IA-02 (4.00 / 1)
Congressman Jim Leach reportedly told them to hold their mailer, and that if they sent it, he'd caucus with the Democrats in the 110th.  Why do I doubt Maureen doesn't even have half the class of former Congressman Leach?

BTW, If anybody from LCR is reading this, I have a beachside estate to sell you in Nebraska.

fool me once (4.00 / 2)
there is an old saying in texas, fool me once...shame on...shame on you.  But fool me...you can't get fooled again.

There is a saying I have.  The Log Cabin Republicans got fooled again.  But really, who cares about a campaign flyer as long as you get the tax free capital gains.

But really, I think the Vice President would agree with me on this one and we are all really out of line having this discussion.

O'Connell's "to do list" (4.00 / 2)
Invoke 9/11 --- check
Pictures of Osama Bin Laden --- check
Fake Homeland security logo --- check

It feels like something is missing...what was that last thing Rove told me to do??

Oh, yeah, gay marriage.

What a long, strange trip it's been.

Has anybody contacted the Human rights Campaign? (4.00 / 2)
Had I known earlier, I would have pinged
Michael over at PageOneQ.
This one is also good for Queerty.

HRC got this one right (0.00 / 0)
They just about always do in open seat races.  They have staffers on the race working for Johnson; I talked to one on Saturday.

HRC and stonewall dems are (0.00 / 0)
well represented here in great neck HQ today. they're working their asses off.

TODAY is day one. It always is.

[ Parent ]
Or you're talking about publicity... (0.00 / 0)
If I were them I'd wait until tomorrow and include in a press release on the race as a whole.
